Just read an article in the Sun Sentinel about classes being offered on cruises. The Crystal Serenity offers classes in sketching and watercolors and lectures about art. You can enroll in Italian classes , Spanish classes and keyboard lessons. The ship even has its own "classrooms." The Symphony and Harmony will add similar programs this year.

Princess cruises offers 20 different courses including photograpy and pottery.

The Queen Mary 2 has art classes and language lessons.

Of course, there are fees for the materials and supplies for some courses.

Does this sound interesting to you?

It all sounds interesting, but when I was on my Princess cruise last month, I found no time to actually do it. A few times that I passed the classroom (the Chapel), there were only a few people in there. Maybe one day I'll try it.

About 20 years ago, my husband (who I didn't know yet) turned down an offer to interview for a job as computer instructor on QE2. Well, I suppose if he had gotten the job, we never would have met, so I'm very glad he didn't go for it.
