stauber
We have a cruise planned for December. I like to fly in the day before. Anyone have suggestions about where to stay in Tampa? I've tried to figure out exactly where the port is in relation to the airport, and I can't seem to find it.
Shari2
Welcome to Cruise Crazies, stauber! Sorry that I can't help you. I've never cruised out of Tampa, but I hope someone here can help you.
gogetter
Hello, I would suggest the Hard Rock Hotel.
FrankiRN
We stayed at the Doubletree Westshore for $89. We drove and parking was free in a covered lot during our cruise. They don't normally run a shuttle to the pier, but said as long as they were not busy they would be happy to do it and they did. If not the cab ride would be about $15 or less. When we got in we called the hotel and they had a shuttle there in minutes to pick us up and bring us back to our car. NO CHARGE. Amazing service. Another great property is the Hilton Garden Inn Ybor City. Free shuttle to/from airport and the pier, great rooms, friendly, very helpful staff, nice pool, and wonderful location -- right in historic Ybor City, near restaurants, bars, shops, movie theaters. KeithnRita
stauber--Welcome to CruiseCrazies! This is quote from our review of our Horizon eleven day cruise out of Tampa last New Years, posted on this website: "We stayed at the Hilton Westshore by the airport for $130.00 per night. It included free parking for the length of our cruise. That saved us $110.00 for pier parking. It cost us $5.00 each for transfer to and from ship, so adding $5.00 each way for tips, we figured the stay only cost us $80.00. Not bad and Rita was happy to shop at the big mall near by. Our shuttle was waiting for us upon disembarking ship. We give the Hotel an A+++"
FloridaKeith
FrankiRN's suggestion is a good one. We live only 35 miles from Tampa so we don't need to stay overnight but here are other suggestions. The airport is about 6 miles away. There are lots of hotels around the airport so it wouldn't be a problem to find one in any price range. I doubt if any run shuttles to the port so a taxi would be needed. The Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina is the nearest and one of the most expensive as it is just a few hundred yards along Channelside from the Port Terminals. You wouldn't want to walk though with cases.
TheSkipper
You might want to try Priceline. Any hotel downtown will be a very short cab ride to the ship. We have gotten very good prices on upscale hotels through Priceline on past cruises out of Tampa.
