DestinyinDec
I thought maybe I would start at 60 days out with a few details about our upcoming cruise, if that is alright with ya'll. First off my first cruise was on Carnival with my DH for our 10th wedding anniv. I surprised him with a balcony cabin. We had a wonderful time and we both loved the balcony. Now for this time. My mom is retired from AA Eagle so we get flight benefits. So when mom says lets fly somewhere for our christmas trip this next yr I said I inow a cruise. Some where sunny and warm. So we booked the Destiny b/c of the ports of call. I want to see Barbados and Aruba. Because we fly stand by we have decided to fly out on the 16th which is three days before the cruise. We booked our hotel today we decided on the Milano, anyone stayed here. We picked it for the location and the rooftop resturant we can sit at and watch the ships come into port and leave on sat and then watch the destiny sail into port. Not sure what we are gonna do while in San Juan my 13 yr old daughter wants to shop of course haha. And the forts are a must and the churchs. I think we'll just kinda do whatever we feel like.Anyone have any must do suggestions for San Juan? I want to relax and maybe post a bit from San Juan to the board. I'll do a review of the Milano before we leave so it will be fresh in my mind and then let me concentrate on the cruise. If that's okay with everyone. I know this board doesn't have a lot of posts but ya'll are very nice and welcoming and thought I could contribute a bit to it. Thanks gina

Shari2
Hi Destiny...I haven't been to San Juan for about 14 years, but I remember that we went to El Morro fort in Old San Juan, which was very interesting. We also walked around the downtown area by the cruise docks and did some shopping. There are many forts, museums and churches and casinos and beaches. We went over to the Condado Plaza hotel and casino and played for awhile. I had the best mai-tai in an open-air bar that overlooked the lagoon and was next to the casino in the hotel. There is the El Yunque Rain Forest, and the Bacardi Rum factory. You might be interested in seeing them. Can't think of anything else...it's been awhile! Hope you have a great cruise! rogue
Personally, I love to experience other peoples cruise anticipation. It only validates my own. Any posting that show's this anticipation is welcomed by me. We were supposed to cruise to San Juan last year, but a hurricane diverted us to Key West instead. We're now looking into a Southern Caribbean cruise for next year, so I'll be vey interested in everyhting about your cruise. Keep on posting. Howard
DestinyinDec
Okay Shari and Howard, I'll keep posting as I get closer and then from the Milano hotel in SJ. MiaTai I'll have to remember that never had one but heard of them and sound good. My parents don't drink but hey I am 42 I can. I also found a tour we will look into, it's call the now I can't spell it I am sure but it's biolumious or something close to that. The website is www.biobay.com so if anyone wants to look at it and see what u think. My dad wants to go to a baseball game in SJ as lots of the major league players go there to play for the winter. We'll see. Well that's all for now and hope everyone has a good friday gina

DaCruzNut
If you have the time, there are two places on the "must see/must do" list.... The first is a visit to El Junque Rainforest. Even on the most beautiful day, you notice, as you drive up into the mountains, that the sky is suddenly cloudy... There is almost a constant cloud over the peak of El junque, the mountain for which the park was named. The second spot is Luquillo Beach... It's a gorgeous beach that sits in the shadow of El junque. It is beautiful, with the sea in front of you and the mountains behind. One more tip....Don't pass by the carts with the vendors selling Piraguas! The shaved ice delight is not your average Sno-Kone!!!! The ice is hand shaved, by the vendor, and the the texture of the shaved ice ice special. But, it's the syrups that make these really great! They are all produced locally, many from fresh fruit! Try the tamarind, or mango; or, if your less adventurous, the pineapple, with tiny chunks of real pineapple, is one of my favorites.
