paljoeysmom
Ahoy Cruisers, We will be sailing out of New Orleans on 4/24/05. We would like to know a decent HOTEL to stay in New Orleans for a couple of days, precruise, that is within close proximity to the cruise dock, and perhaps has a free shuttle. My hubby just found out N.O. is having a jazz festival during that time. Any ideas, suggestions, your experience and what you did would be appreciated. Shari2
While I've been to New Orleans, I've never stayed over night there. Hope someone here can help you, paljoeysmom.

Shari2
Not yet, Skipper, but I'm working on it! We just got our docs, today! Whoo Hoo! I was just about to send you a PM. We haven't heard from you on the boards for awhile. Have you and Roe been off on another cruise?
TheSkipper
Hi Shari, We received our e-docs on 10/30; however yesterday we received a one cat upgrade from 2001 to 2127, which takes us off the bow and puts us mid-ships whch is great with us. This will be the first time we have used e-docs, should be interesting. We are arriving in SD about 12:30Pm on Sunday and cabbing to the ship. We sailed out of SD in September aboard the Legend of the Seas, so we kinda know the drill. Since that cruise we spent a week in Albuquerque and and few days in Palm Springs, CA., so we have been on the move and I have not been spending much time on-line. See you soon,
Shari2
Congrats on the upgrade, Skipper! Hope the e-docs work out o.k. for you!
JohnG
Frankly, I didn't think the Hilton Riverwalk was too expensive, and is ideally located. You could literally roll your own bag to the terminal from the hotel. It is on the trolley line and you can also walk to Harrah's Casino and to Bourbon Street. And of course it is connected to the Riverwalk Mall.
Guest
We stayed at the Wyndam Hotel - It's called Bourbon Orleans I believe. It's in the center of New Orleans. It's actually on the corner of Bourbon Street. We were there last December before our cruise. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was absolutely wonderful. They couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel was doing some renovations and I'm sure it's even better now. It's within walking distance from everything, including a few blocks from River Walk. paljoeysmom
John, Believe it or not, the Hotel is charging $349 a NIGHT for the Hilton Riverwalk for the dates of 4/21-4/24 due to the Jazz festival. I saw folks getting the Hilton Riverwalk for $50 per night on Priceline, but it was at a slower time of the year. We bid $150 per night on a 4 star in the French Quarter and got all NO BIDS on Priceline. Then we went down to a 3 star on Priceline in both the convention area and French Quarter for $125 still no bites. My hubby booked a nice 4 star through the hotels website in the French Qtr. Hard to belive lots of hotels are already booked 6 months in advance although I know it is the Jazz Festival.
