Lauderdale, has received its 2004 Readers' Choice Award as the "Best One-Day Cruise." Hanns J. DaCruzNut
Maybe the reason that Discovery was first in this category, one-day cruises, is that they are the ONLY one-day cruise operating out of South Florida... We used to have several, a few years ago, but the market isn't very strong for one-day cruises, since the cost is not a bargain! Discovery charges between $99.00 and $129.00, pp, for the one-day cruise, depending on the season. for this, they give you passage to Grand Bahama (not a great destination...) and three buffet meals. No cabin (locker rooms!). Now, don't get me wrong. I have sailed on Discovery, and would do so again. It's a great get-away if you only have one day. The food is, surprisingly, good, even though it's buffet-style. the entertainment is mediocre, but acceptable, with the exception of the "island band," which is excellent. great for sitting around the pool. But, compare this to Imperial Majesty's two-night, three-day cruise to Nassau, for $129.00 to $149.00, pp, which gets you a real cruise. Inside cabin, food around the clock, etc. Even Carnival's three-night cruise, starting at $249.00, pp, is a bigger bargain.. .
Lisa63
Jeff, does Apollo still do the catering for Discovery, or is that a thing of the past?
