Jason
MIAMI, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- For the 11th year in a row, the "Fun Ships" of Carnival Cruise Lines have been named a "Best Cruise Value" by Ocean & Cruise News, the monthly publication of the World Cruise & Ocean Liner Society (WCOLS), a 24-year-old organization comprised of highly experienced cruise enthusiasts. The awards, which were featured in a recent issue of Ocean & Cruise News, are divided into 10 categories and recognize those cruise lines that provide a superior product at the best prices. Carnival, which earned "best value honors" in the "High-Superior Four- Star-Plus Category," was recognized for its recent product enhancements, spacious staterooms, affordable pricing and distinctive shipboard ambiance. "Carnival delivers the fun that is promised in its advertising and then some. The line continues to improve its on-board product in the key areas of service, dining and entertainment and exceed the expectations of its passengers. Cabins are also larger than other ships within this category. All of this, combined with Carnival's moderate prices, makes this a real value winner," said Tom Cassidy, Ocean & Cruise News editor. Commented Carnival President and CEO Bob Dickinson, "Value -- providing far more than what guests pay for -- is an important part of Carnival's success. In the past few years, we've revamped every aspect of the 'Fun Ship' vacation experience -- from updated menus and a greater variety of shore excursions to higher service standards and more in-cabin amenities. To be named a 'best value' 11 years running from an esteemed group such as the World Cruise & Ocean Liner Society is a gratifying endorsement of these efforts." Carnival, a unit of Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE: CCL; LSE) (NYSE: CUK), is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with 20 "Fun Ships" operating voyages of three to 16 days in length to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England and Europe. The line currently has two 110,000-ton SuperLiners -- Carnival Liberty and Carnival Freedom -- scheduled to enter service between now and February 2007.
