Jason
Foodies afloat SPOILS, By Elizabeth Meryment FOOD and wine events are prolific these days: apparently everyone wants to cook like a celebrity chef or at least eat food prepared by one. With this in mind, luxury cruise line Orion Expedition Cruises has devised a food-and-wine week afloat featuring one chef, one providore and one winemaker as well as plenty of tucker and plonk. The "reef and rainforest expedition" will leave Brisbane on May 14, arriving in Cairns a week later after cruising up Queensland's beautiful coastline, stopping at scenic spots such as Fraser and Lady Elliot islands, Creal Reef, Port Hinchinbrook, Willis Islet, Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas. Fielding on-board food and wine questions, as well as giving informal lessons and tips on how to live the good life, will be Serge Dansereau, chef and part-owner of Sydney's Bathers' Pavilion restaurant, winemaker Denis Horgan, of West Australia's Leeuwin Estate, and ubiquitous providore and cheese fiend Simon Johnson. Prices for the seven-day cruise aren't cheap but then the ship – to be a permanent fixture on the Australian cruising scene after its arrival in Sydney this weekend – sleeps only 106 passengers, so exclusivity is assured. Cost: From $4550 per person or $6300 for a suite.
GottaCruz
sounds great but I don't think I 'll be sailing this one in the near future but it is nice to hear about.
