glojo
Waiting for tablemates ettiquette......I didn't realize this even existed! I always thought that....yes we are sitting together...but if someone gets sick or decides not to eat formally thats their choice. I suppose if you know ahead of time it would be considerate to let others know your plans. But sometimes you just wing it, and plans change. hamster92256
We had the early seating in a group of five tables, and from day one, only three couples showed up every night except one (Cozumel!!! ) We ended up having a great time and the service was at least twice as good. Mebert
If one enjoys the company, I think it's a nice jesture to let folks know if you'll be absent from the dinner table. Of course if you're changing tables because you're uncomfortable with your table mates I don't think any notice is necessary. By the same token your table mates shouldn't feel you're leaving because you didn't like their company.

Suzila
A slight deviation from this subject...I know a lot of cruisers don't like the fact that many of the cruise lines are now automatically including tips on the sail & sign cards. I personally don't mind it, it makes it easier for me to not have to gather my tip money ahead of time. And, if we really like the service, which we always seem to, we just add more of a tip. But we noticed a lot of times on our cruises people would show up for dinner every night EXCEPT the last one...the one where tips were supposed to be given out to the waiters, busboys, etc. How rude is that? They serve you every night and do a darn good job, and then you stiff them the last night? People complain about how much the tips are. Sheesh! If you were going out to a ritzy restaurant where they served you a 5 or 6 course meal, wouldn't you be tipping your waiter MORE than $3.50 for the meal and service? We usually tip 20%. A meal like those served on board ship for dinner would probably cost upwards of $25-$35, right? Even at $25.00, which I'm sure is estimating low, that would be a $5.00 tip. And, on most ships the waiters and busboys even provide entertainment. I'm glad they now have the tips included. I'll stop ranting now...back to the original conversation.
