rogue
Jamaica is a beuatiful island, and the people we met were very friendly. We have never been to Jamaica before, and did not hear very good things about travelling around the island. We heard different stories that it was dangerous, full of drugs, pushy salespeople, corrupt police, etc. This made us stay at the resort for the 5 days we were there, and did not see much of the island at all. Some of the people there went on a couple of excursions, and did like them. Dunn's River Falls was well liked, but most felt that it truely was dangerous. Some also went snorkelling on a catamarran. We just did that last month in Cozumel ,so, we skipped it. We stayed at the Wyndham Rose Hall, which is right outside of Montego Bay. The resort is beautiful. It is an all-inclusive, so it included food and alcohol. The food there wasn't nearly as good as the food we ever had on a cruise. It wasn't available 24 hours-a-day, which may have been a good thing (I gained zero pounds on the vacation). The drinks were very tasty, but if there was really any alcohol in them, I would be surprised. The resort has a small water park with a couple of water slides, and a lazy river. The lazy river was certainly the best part of the resort. Going under some waterfalls after a game of beach volleyball in the 90 degree heat can't be adequately described. The wedding on the beach was certainly beautiful. It was quite hot (it took place at 1PM), and very breezy (the breeze helped), but it's hard to picture a more beautiful place to get married. Everything went on without a hitch (the only problem was that the bride had to take off her veil or lose her head). I imagine that the bridal party was a little warm (bride in a full gown, bridesmaids in black dresses, and groom and ushers in tuxedos), but being barefoot was a great help. I, on the other hand, felt great in shorts and a shirt (and no shoes). There was a reception in a private room that followed. The food was good, and the drinks were stronger. It was nice to get away, but I really appreciate cruises after a vacation like that. There is so much more to do on a cruise. We spent most of our time on the beach, and neither my wife nor I are true beach people. It was good that there was about 30 of us there to keep everyone occupied. We did enjoy it, but would have rather been cruising. Howard
hazelson
It all sounds so beautiful. I am reading the "White Witch of Rose Hall" she was really something. Sounds like you had a good time - wish it were me lol. I love weddings. TTFN Jennifer
