rogue
Has anyone ever traded a timeshare week for a cruise? If so, do you think that you got a good deal? We have a timeshare in the Pocono Mountains that was great when the kids were young, but now we seldom use it. We were thinking of selling it, but I know that we'll get practically nothing for it. We would keep it if it had any value toward a cruise. Howard

rogue
There are timeshare trading companies that will give you a cash credit for your timeshare week that you can use toward a cruise. I just don't know how well you really do. If I could trade my week straght up for a 7-day cruise, that would be great. I haven't heard of anyone doing that yet. JohnG
I have an RCI membership for a timeshare that my mother passed to us. I am also a cruise travel agent. In my opinion, exchanging the week for cruise credit is not a good deal. It means you give up your week and still have a hefty price to pay for the balance of the cruise. You can do better purchasing a cruise outright. But if you haven't joined and exchange organization like RCI, you should do so and just exchange your week in the Poconos for a week in Cancun, the Caribbean, or somewhere else in the US where you want to go. rogue
WE do have an RCI membership, but we also have a timeshare week in Sanibel FL and we don't have enough weeks vacation for everything. We have traded extensively over the years, and we actually feel that timeshare owing was a good way for us to go. I guess that we will eventually be able to use more vacation time, and that's the reason we haven't sold it yet. Thanks for your input. I have heard before that trading for cruises was not very good. Oh, well, it was just a thought. Howard
TheSkipper
We have two timeshares and are RCI members. Never have found a good deal on an exchange for a cruise!! JohnG is absolutly correct. We trade ours to other local locales. Were in Hilton Head, SC a couple of weeks ago. Those exchanges work great, but there are too many good deals on cruises that exceed anything offered through RCI for a cruise trade. :undecided:
