LifeIsCruising
It seems that the "proper" thing to say is that we all buy it. But I am learning that not every one does. Actually I am learning that only about 3 in 10 do. Do you? If so why? If not why? Tell the truth
gogetter
Hello, Well as the line in the movie says......You can't handle the truth....lol....anyways...... I have before and i haven't. Doesn't really depend on anything. I would say 2 out of 10 times i have and that was for the longer cruises. 5 and 7 days.
JohnG
I didn't buy it in the beginning, but started after 9/11 in 2001 because of airline delays, then me elderly mother caused me to buy it, now because we are spending more on cruise and air. Fortunately, haven't had to use it. Frankly, it is not very expensive. 70% of my clients buy it.
Tut
I only buy it if I'm booking way in advance - like a year or more or for more extensive vacations like to Europe or something like that. If I book a vacation just a few months prior to when we're going, I don't get it.
JoeyandDavid
I had never purchased Travel insurance before, until I booked our European Cruise for October 06, After asking the question "was insurance worth it" on a couple of "other" boards, I realized I have a small fortune invested in this trip, plus the fact we would be on foreign soil, just as piece of mind I bite the bullet and paid $450 dollars to cover both of us for a $9500 policy to cover almost everything. I did learn a few things all policies are not the same and that there are some that are state resident sensitive, the policy I bought recognizes David and I as "next of kin" I thought that might be necessary especially so far away form California. So to answer the question more concise, depends on the cost of the trip and the destination. <]
BoatrideLover
We have always bought travel insurance, and have had to use it, resulting in saving us lots of money! My husband, son and myself were booked on the Carnival Fantasy for the fall of 2002, along with my parents, in cat. 12 suites, so it was a little pricey. Seven weeks before we were to sail, my mom had to have a triple by-pass and heart valve repair surgery so we couldn't go on the cruise (we rescheduled for January, 2003). Thanks to the insurance, we were able to get all of our money back! We have it for our upcoming cruise in November. When the travel insurance only costs $89.00 for the three of us, why would we even think twice?
schatje
I never purchased insurance before this year but felt that things were changing so drastically around the world that I would feel more secure just having it. We are going on two different ships back to back next year and I'm wondering if I can purchase insurance to cover both ships as long as there is no break in our vacation? Any suggestions as to which insure would be helpful also as I need to purchase some within a week.
JoeyandDavid
Hi schatje, My take on the insurance is it's a Dollar amount for a time frame period, so one policy for both cruises is possible. may i suggest you check out a clearing house insurance website that i found quite useful: http://www.insuremytrip.com good luck and lucky you a B2B i always wanted to try that ... Maybe when DP finally retires or gets to the 5 week vacation:)
cruisinmama
We always buy insurance BUT I have learned to BUY it right at the time of putting a deposit down..such a PITA if you don't or it was for us.. More so if you have pre-existing medical problems..but I wouldn't travel without insurance.
sewut51
Our first cruise was back in 95 and we were clueless. We didn't even know about shore excursions until we went to the talk onboard the ship. We didn't have insurance for it. Our last cruise in January 05 we had it because I have a father in his late 80's and you never know, at that age, what will happen. We are planning another cruise now and we have already deciced to get insurance for the same reason. Sewut
