KeithnRita
Cruise insurance is kinda like life insurance, we always buy it and we are very happy we have not had a claim!
Lisa63
We always buy insurance -- not just for cancellation but for trip interruption, including medical evacuation. We even purchased it for a 2-night cruise to nowhere.
sailinglisa
Out of the 12 cruises I have taken, I can honestly say that I did not take insurance out twice.....once on my very first cruise back in 1991 because I didn't know any better; and the second one was for my three day cruise last November on the Majesty of the Seas. And wouldn't you know it, that was the cruise I almost missed because of airline problems - even though I was flying in the night before................ My father is in his mid 70's....relatively good health, but you never know. Also, all it would take is a bad fall or an accident while on board or in port to have your trip interrupted.......I don't know about you, but I cannot afford the 20,000 to 30,000 dollars for a med-evac flight from a cruise ship! You don't have to have pre-existing conditions to have an accident happen....slip on a wet floor, have someone knock you over, get an attack of appendicitis and broken bones and heart attacks can happen any time...........you never know what can happen to you, and I absolutely cannot afford to pay out of pocket for all those costs. My health insurance will NOT cover me once outside of the country. For my next two cruises I have the insurance and any future ones I will also buy insurance for. Peace of mind. Suzila
I haven't always bought insurance, but back in 1996 we had a cruise planned with our kids and my oldest son had had a collapsed lung a few months before, so we purchased insurance, 'just in case'. Sure enough, two days before the cruise he had another episode and spent 13 days in the hospital. We got all our money back..the insurance company was great about it. Now we have a cruise planned in another week or so, and I have my two elderly parents (89 and 90 years old) to care for. You bet I have insurance. Bodger
We always buy insurance, but just trip cancellation. The health care portion is covered by my employer (which happens to be me). I have always in the past purchased it from the TA, but discovered that my credit card company has a deal with an insurer that is about two-thirds of the price. The insurance did have to be purchased within 72 hours of booking. Bodger
