cruisinmama
Hi Everyone, I've been reading lots about Costa Maya, now that we are going there. "change of Port" Have you been what did you do? We are thinking of renting golf carts and doing our own thing. unless its a nice walk around? or is it spread out? I hear many places only take cash, not much plastic allowed....True? Just thought I'd ask for some ideas.... Thanks
rogue
There really isn't very much to Costa Maya. There is some shopping just off the ship, but outside of that, there is nothing to see. This is really a "make believe" cruise port that is yet to be really built up yet. They are building up around the area, but that's still some time away. We took a tour of one of the Mayan ruins, which we enjoyed very much. Just be aware, that the area is very hot. Howard

TheSkipper
There is a great beach about 35 minutes from the pier. Can't remember the name of it, but it can be booked aboard your ship or at the pier. New motor coaches (with good AC) for transport and excellent facilities at the beach. One of the nicest we have seen in Mexico and we have seen a lot of them!! Had a great day there.

Your package includes shuttle service to and from the beach, a beach chair, open bar, paddle boats (limited availability), changing rooms, and showers. You’re sure to enjoy the sandy beach and crystal-clear turquoise water. schatje
We walked around the shopping village just made for tourists. The show was pretty good and got some very colorful pictures but disc got deleted so I can't show you. You can sit in the shade while watching the show. There is a beach there where you can sit and look at the cruise ships in port but not much else in the immediate area. If you need a relaxing day, then this would be a good port. TheSkipper
That's the one! We loved it and I'm not usually impressed with beaches. Would go back in a heartbeat!! We actually look forward to returning to Costa Maya because of this beach resort. I think you, and the kids, will enjoy it.
