cruisinmama
DH is NOT happy.... we've been at odds all day...it was dentist day for us all and I'd rather have a root canal then be dealing with this..lol... Ok, we booked a cruise with a TA, and she gave us a price that was wrong....but she stood by it...which I will say is the same price as Travelocity ..so not a big change by what we can see...she also gave us a cabin credit which we didn't ask for but anyway...now that the Cruise has also gone down..and we asked for it to be changed.. So now she said if it goes down anymore since she is giving us a cabin credit and since she gave the wrong cruise price and honored it...she will not be getting as much commision and if the Cruise goes down anymore she will have to take a percentage of our cabin credit ..as she won't make any money basically is what I got from her.. We are kind of shocked...we are not greedy but if we can save a few hundred dollars, we'd be dumb not too.... I don't know what to do...I'd hate to have to cancel and maybe loose these cabins...but dh is pretty PO and thinks it isn't our problem she isn't making as much as she can from us... OYE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is about all I can say.. have no clue what to say or do...:undecided:
JoeyandDavid
Ann Answer me these questions before I comment. 1) How much difference from correct original price and misqouted price? 2) How much on board Credit did you recieve. 3) how much lower is the cruise now then before at you reduced origional rate
sailingrose
RCI is supposed to have even pricing across the board. If you check their site it will be the same price as anyone else's. There is an exception at least at the moment, if you are part of a group rate then it could be less money for the same sailing. I have always been able to get the price drop from my agent regardless of when it occurs. From what I understand they can't give you a cabin credit, or any other perk to make the trip cost less. I would definately get a new agent! Something is weird with this one......... Some agents have gift cards and other perks that RCI does allow but a shipboard credit isn't one of them. cruisinmama
I just called RCI and as I was a new booking...and we are paying a few bucks more 20.00 more...with the TA than if we booked with RCI...thats usa funds also... I dunno, things have just gotten wierd b/c I asked for the rate that is on the RCI web site.....I guess if the rate drops more and its lower than the cabin credits she can take it from there.... and not say a word to my dh anymore..lol..
gogetter
Hello, Seems pretty shaky to me...
cruisinmama
Yeah, sounds odd but here is what I've been told, whether its true we have no idea... You have a Cruise rate from RCI and you can't discount that price...but they offer perks as an on board credit.. So lets say the TA makes $150, they may offer the customer $100 cabin credit and just keep $50 in commission. When the customers price gets lowered, the commision might drop then to $120 on the cabin but they still offered the customer $100's so now the TA is down to $20. So if the rate keeps getting reduced he/she's commision also goes down and maybe to nothing..... I'm quite confused on the whole thing.....I'm trying to see both sides but i'm only the customer I guess I never figured I had to worry about their part to this... :undecided:
sailingrose
I was under the impression that you could not offer shipboard credits???? Something is missing.........
cruisinmama
well I was told they are offered by many lines ?? I know even on travelocity I see they give say $ 25.00 per cabin or pp...depends which Cruise.. I'm new to all this so I'm not sure how it all works..
JohnG
I am a TA. You can offer shipboard credit on RCL, but the TA is paying for it. TA's can't discount the fare.
