hamster92256
Since I am a grey suit kind of guy, that means that I own one and it is good for weddings, furnerals(dark grey), graduations, special occassions. For formal nights, do you own your tux or do you rent it?
KarenUK
My Husband was the same, he has 2 suits - 1 he keeps for weddings ect and took both but only ended up wearing his best for the first formal night, some people on our last cruise (the Carnival Miracle) were wearing tuxedo's and looked very smart but most people seemed to be in dark suits and the second formal night he wore one of his best shirts & ties & suit trousers but fitted in well with what he was wearing. It appears that on the few cruises I have been fortunate to go on the first formal night (usually the Captain coctail party) most people make an effort & every one looks superb and the second formal night still see's people making an effort but not as much as the first formal night. As long as you are wearing a suit on the main formal night & feel smart that you will have a great time - you can't expect a few thousand people all to agree on what to wear!
cruisinmama
We bought my dh a suit for our last Cruise, lighter grey he looked terrible in the darker... We did have a gentleman at our table he wore a Tux and had bought it...as they will continue to Cruise for many years to come... I don't think my dh would look good in a Tux, so will stick to wearing his suit... But we did see many men in suits and woman in gowns.some couples were stunning..
jbond
I own a tux. For me it's been much cheaper than renting. I'm not sure of the current rental, but if it's around $60, this year alone would cost me $180. I bought my current tux 11 years ago for our daughters wedding. It cost me $250 at Mens Wearhouse. It's all merino wool, made by Victor Rufolo. Over the past 11 years I've probably worn it about 40 times, so I've gotten my money's worth. schatje
Thanks for the suggestion about the Men's Wearhouse. We will have to go and look for a tux for my DH Andre'.
JoeyandDavid
Hey Mary also see if there is a Gregory's Tuxedos in your area. Also if you check with renatl palces they sometimes have great deals on tux purchases you can save $$$ As they used to say "let your fingers do the walking"
hamster92256
I happened to see on JC Penney online store, 3 button Pierre Cardin tux jacket w/pants for $149, shirt, tie, and cumberbund was $30 more. I was figuring that if I just used it for cruises it would be worth the price as compared to renting on board.
JoeyandDavid
so true and it makes a nice change of pace too! Although I dont wear alot of paces, they must be good cause lots of folks always bring a change of one!
rogue
Since we started to go on a cruise every year, I bought a tux. We both love to get dressed to the nines. Also bought mine at Mens' Warehouse. It's a great place to shop.
