Disney Wonder sets long cruises

The Disney Wonder will offer special 10-night and 11-night cruises from Port Canaveral to the Southern Caribbean in September 2006, Disney Cruise Line announced Friday.

It is the first time Disney has offered cruises longer than three or four nights aboard the Disney Wonder.

"We have found that once our guests experience a Disney cruise they are eager to return again for a new adventure to different ports of call," Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin said in a statement. "These special, longer cruises were designed with our repeat guests in mind."

The Southern Caribbean route includes ports of call such as St. Thomas, St. Lucia and Antigua, as well as two new ports of call for Disney Cruise Line -- Barbados and, on the longer cruise, St. Kitts.

The 10-night cruise will depart on Sept. 7, 2006, with prices beginning at $1,299 per person. The 11-night cruise departs on Sept. 17, 2006, with prices beginning at $1,499 per person.

The Wonder's sister ship, the Disney Magic, departs California on a 14-night eastbound Panama Cruise to return to Port Canaveral on Aug. 20. The Port Canaveral-based ship has been sailing from California this summer as part of The Walt Disney Co.'s 50th-anniversary celebration for Disneyland.

Beginning Sept. 3, Magic will offer seven-night alternating cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

Next May, Magic will sail an additional Western Caribbean itinerary.
