sewut51
My husband is a veteran and a Carnival Personal Vacation Planner told me today that veterans can get a discount on cruises. I had though it was just current military personnel. We are booked on a group cruise and she said the military discount could beat it. Has anyone used it? How much of a discount was it? hamster92256
As far as I know Carnival is the only one right now offering a military discount to all veterans. The amount of the discount varies with the cruise and should be taken advantage of as soon as it is offered because they will discontinue it if the ship starts to fill. On our cruise on the Valor we were given $200 pp off. Well worth the effort to send them the paperwork that is needed. From what they told me once they have the paperwork they will keep it on file for the future!!!
JohnG
The rate code is CPM2. Ask for it. I find the rate to be 15-20% less in most cases. It is not available on all cruises or all categories of cabins, but worth it where applicable. Active, retired, reserve, national guard. I have heard from reservation agents that ex-service members with a DD214 are eligible, although I did not see that in writing like I have for the others. gogetter
Hello, I recently have used it and i was in the Navy back in 1980-82. I saved about $50 pp off my upcoming Glory cruise. A wonderful surprise and anything helps. I then bought cabin decorations and a bottle of ASTI. What you have to do is fax them a DD214 that shows an honorable discharge. You must have had at least 2 years in the service, but close to that and they may honor it. They did in my case. I had 1 year and 11 months. A small word of warning..or maybe not warning.......i faxed mine to the TA -PVP whatever you want to call them. I called back about a half hour later and she said it was recieved and approved. I then recieve my statement with a due balance and no where did it show the discount. Ok..i say...let me call...she never called back and then i get really pissed. I call all over and get to the department that actually APPLIES the discount. She had never got the fax. She then gave me another fax number...different than the PVPS fax....and an hour later it is APPLIED and i asked her to send me a new due statement with the correct balance due total. The PVP still hadn't called days later, so i call Carnival to gripe about the way this was handled, got a nice and great man in Colorado Springs who upgraded me to a balcony. So.......i went from an inside,,,,,to an oceanview for a cheaper amount with the military discount, to a balcony. Sometimes you just have to keep on top of things until you get it straight.....after all it doesn't hurt to be a GOGETTER sometimes...lolololol................. Good luck and if you have any problems...and if you need it...i will try and see if i have that departments phone number.....either post here or email me......gogetter2000_99...and i will help if i can....
JohnG
The Carnival fax number to fax the DD-214 or a copy of an ID card, for active, retired and reserve, is 305-406-6478 attn: Interline Coordinator, or scanned and emailed to interline@carnival.com. If it goes anywhere else it may not be applied, and even this office messes up occasionally. p.s. I'm retired Navy and a TA.
