Oceania Cruises

We are considering Oceania for one of cruises next year or early 2007. Anyone sailed aboard any of their ships or have any first hand knowledge of this line?

Just looked at a CD they sent us and it looks great to me!

I have booked several customers on Oceania, including one who was so impressed with the service on their first cruise aboard Oceania that they just completed their second. They couldn't speak highly enough about them.

I have attended their product seminars and am booked myself for next summer aboard their newly introduced third ship.

I have never sailed Oceania, but I have been receiving their beautiful brochures. Based on the brochures the cruises seem like a great value because they are usually half priced and some of them include air.

It looks very elegant from what I've seen in the brochure.

If you do sail, I can't wait to read your review.

For the benefit of those interested, Oceania was formed in 2003 with two ships, formerly with the now defunct Renaissance Cruise Line, now renamed the Regatta and Insignia. They recently purchased a third one, now named Nautica, entering service this year. With only 684 passengers and approximately 400 crew, the service is the most remarked upon characteristic by passengers. The dress is country club casual. The idea is to have a cruiseline a notch above the premier lines like HAL, Princess, and Celebrity, but not into the all-inclusive/pricey range of the luxury lines. Open seating at dinner, and several alternative, no cover charge, alternative dining venues, too. Small casino, cabaret style entertainment. They do not often schedule 7 day cruises, but mostly 10-14 days. They are in the Caribbean and South Amerca in the Winter/spring and return to Europe for the summer. Their offers often include free air and 2 for 1 prices with early booking.

My next door neighbors, very frequent cruisers, cruised last summer to the Mediterranean on Oceania. They were extremely impressed, couldn't say enough about how wonderful the cruise was...except!!!

the waiters refused to bring my neighbor two entrees at the same time. They wanted him to eat one first, then they would bring another.

It upset my neighbor (you'd have to know him)...he never goes with the flow. Has to have his own way. Anyway, from what his wife said, he caused a scene and they did give him two entrees at once. The maitre 'd served them to him.

They've been trying to get us to cruise with them for the longest time. I told him after hearing about his childish behavior, I'd pass!!

I have some friends who know that I cruise, but because they are such difficult and bossy people who insist that everyone does what they do I often back out of taking cruises with them. I just don't have the nerve to tell them why.

You've given me inspiration.

My family and I are booked on the 7/28/06 Nautica (Venice to Barcelona). It's the sailing before yours. We are planning to stay one night post cruise in Barcelona. Maybe we can hook up. :wink:
