Shari2
Thanks for the great review, Keith and Rita! It's really nice to hear opinions about ships that I haven't been on yet!
GottaCruz
I loved your review, Keith and Rita. Glad to hear that you did quite a bit of dancing. You must have really danced the nights away to miss the shows- sounds great to me. Sorry to hear that Rita wasn't feeling well but glad that it didn't seem to stop you from enjoying your cruise. You like adorable, Rita, in your braids. Glad that you took the photos since I know so many people that get their braids done, take them out and then wish they had a picture to show of the braids. HOpe to go dancing with you one day, although all we can do is our old disco. We really do need to take some lessons. Thanks so much for writing your review. Hugs,
DaCruzNut
Great review; thanks! I sailed on the Sun's Inaugural and was not impressed. The ship is gorgeous, but the sevice was lacking, then, too.... Too bad you missed the production shows; they were the highlight of my cruise. KeithnRita
Thanks everyone for their kind remarks about our review--Joey & David, Peddler, Ann, Jennifer, Karen, Howard, gymbrat, Mebert, Jeff, Shari, Cheryl, and Jason Just some notes: We failed to mention how very good the photographers were. After our last two cruises, it was nice to see formal photos without glares from our glasses. Jeff, we were going to the Peter Pan production show the evening Rita became ill. Our friends went and said is was the best show they've seen on the high seas. Rita was only ill for the one evening and I stayed in the cabin with her. For the first time my stomach was a little queasy, but either one of us got so sick we needed one of the barf bags they put out all over the ship. We think tired had a lot to do with it. Jenn, yes the eating options were many and we did spend a lot of the cruise indulging, however we only had to pay once and that seemed really weird! Cheryl, we did dance a lot, but not much ballroom dancing. They only played a few rumba and waltz songs. We did do a lot of east coast swing. This helped us not to gain much weight, just a little. We did do a fox-trot solo to "New York" in the disco one evening and actually received applause. When we got home we where surprised by a late Christmas present from our dance instructor, Dancing with the Stars T-shirts. gymbrat, be sure and check out the music from 'Twice as Nice', assuming they will be performing on your one day cruise. Westley was a former member of the Stylistics and he and his wife Shelly are great. Ann, we would love to sail with you guys one day, as well. As a matter of fact, all you CruiseCrazies! Mebert, you remark make us blush! Now for Rita's braids--I talked her into it. She actually got it done before on our old Westerdam cruise a few years ago. JoeyandDavid
Keith I just re-read your review and I noticed that you gave food and service a rating of good.. Does that mean you didnt care for the NCL sun? I know you had a nice birthday and all .... but just what was wrong with food and service that stopped you from giving them Very Goood? KeithnRita
Joey, Quoting from our review, this is why we didn't give the food a very good: >>The food was probably as good as other cruise lines, however the service varied from poor to outstanding depending on your waiter and how busy she/he was. Some times they were doing double duty that an assistant waiter would normally do. The dining room food on it's own was very good. The service was not. KeithnRita
Those items were generally very good. Because of the varying degree of service sometimes the presentation of a less than a hot meal or the wrong meal added to the overall rating. We are probably very kind because there is no bad cruises and everything is at least good. Also, remember this is only our opinion. We can still remember the outstanding food and service on our Veendam cruise six years ago and another couple telling us it was the worse food and service they ever had.
