Carnival Cruise Lines, Fighting the battle of the ever increasing size of cruise ships has announced the "Manhattan Class" ship. The plan is to place multiple propulsion pod units at the north end on Manhattan and push to whole island out to sea! The 'ship' will hold 3,000,000 passengers and offer a range of shipboard activities never before dreamed of...

If things work out, Carnival will go ahead with the s/s Long Island!

Do you knwo when it's going to launch and have they started bookings yet? Will those passengers who live in Manhattan have to vacate?

Commuting to and from the new "ship" will be even worse than now. Hopefully, though, Cannibal (aka Carnival) Corp. will upgrade the passenger ship terminal to make it easier to get on and off the ship. After all, Cannibal has to go "one up" on Royal Carib.'s Cape Liberty port in Bayonne.

Actually not, Rogue. Instead, the new Genesis class will stay anchored in place, and they'll move Caribbean islands to and from the ship every day.

That may be the best idea for the cruise companies that I've heard so far. It will bring in the customers that were afraid to cruise because of seasickness. :grin:

The Manhattan class will be good for the new Red Hook terminal Canrival is opening this year. The gangway will be named the "Brooklyn Bridge" LOL

That's a great idea. I had no idea how I was going to get to Red Hook. The Brooklyn Bridge idea would solve that problem.
