San Francisco Airports Advise??

Hi Gang,

We will be disembarking in San Francisco (Pier 35) on May 18th following a trans-canal cruise aboard the Coral Princess.

Which airport should we use, SFO or Oakland?? Any suggestions for ground transport from the ship to the airport??

I've flown out of both airports on business, but never following a cruise.

Any suggestions welcome.

Oakland and SFO are both about the same distance from the cruise terminal, but Oakland generally has a better ontime departure, since it is less crowded and the weather ie fog does not slow down the departures like it does from SFO (sometimes one of the runways is closed). The fog should not be bad in May (gets bad in the summer months).

Transportation to SFO may be a bit more plentiful. Cabs will cost about $30-35 to either airport. Not sure if SF Airporter picks up at the terminal, but that is an easy way to get to SFO. Otherwise, there are several other services, such as Super Shuttle, but I believe you need to book ahead.
