DaCruzNut
I took the SeaEscape day-cruise today, and thought it would be fun to do a little 'review.' Let me start by saying this: This is, primarily, agambling cruise. One full deck is nothing but the casino and slots, and slots, and more slots... We arrived early, and boarding was efficient and quick. I had called and made a reservation about a week ago, and my boarding pass was waiting at the check-in desk. A wrist band was snapped in place, identifying me as part of a "group." This entitled us to free drinks while gambling in the casino. The 'reguler' passengers have to pay for drinks. It also got us admission to certai "private party" areas. Awaiting us, as we boarded, was a buffet brunch, with the usual bacon, sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs, etc;, etc; There was also a made-to-order omelet station. The food was fairly good, and the coffee, surprisingly, was good, also. Our group had an area set aside with a continental breakfast, also, and a Mimosa fountain. The Mimosas were not watered down! Lunch was a sit-down, five-course white glove service meal. The service was as good as that on most 'real' cruises I've been on. The food quality was very good. The entree choices were very limited, and included a fish, a chicken a beef and a vegetarian choice. The desserts were rather plain, and of super-market-bakery quality. The entertainment wasn't bad. They have the usual karaoke, trivia games, name that TV theme sonng contest, etc; We had a special, private, show geared to our group. As you start back to port, and the casino closes, they put on a fairly good 'Las Vegas" type review. The singers and dancers, obviously of Eastern European background, were very entertaining. The band was surprisingly good. All-in-all, more than worth the $49.95 it cost. When asked if we wanted to do it again, we all yelled, "Yes," to a man. Were were advised this will be a regular four times a year cruise. Count me in for the next one. Can't wait!
