Joanandjoe
As well as Carnival Corp. handled the Princess fire, that's how poorly they handled the relaunch of the Carnival Sensation, which has returned to the fleet after serving as emergency housing for Katrina survivors. The ship failed CDC inspection, and was held up for seven hours while repairs were made. They arrived late at their first port, Nassau, causing cancellation of some shore excursions. Then they tossed three couples, including one couple celebrating the husband's return from serving in Iraq, off the ship. See http://www.orlandosentinel.com/orl-strande...0,4919505.story They may have a ship called the Valor, but they certainly didn't respect the valor of the veteran who was forced to leave the ship. GottaCruz
Wow, that's shocking. Thanks for posting this , Joanandjoe. I hadn't heard this one.
DaCruzNut
We heard a LOT about it, here in South Florida. And, after it all sorted out, I have to agree that Carnival did screw up, with the ship. But, other passengers express relief that the passengers had been 'thrown off' in the Bahamas. They were making life miserable for the whole ship, and made bad matters worse! It takes a lot, under any circumstances, for a line to face the bad publicity of kicking a passenger off of a ship. And, you can be sure that the captain contacted HQ, first. The passengers are not blameless. Cruisers know that when you take an inaugural cruise, or sail on a ship just out of drydock, you take your chances. There's only a 50/50 chance that things will go right. Mebert
One has to complain pretty forcefully to be kicked off a Carnival ship. Although I wasn't there, I have witnessed people complaining about one thing or another and pretty loudly and no one was ever ejected.
