Question on casino aboard Golden Princess

We're astounded that there's a service charge for chips on any line. On Windstar and Radisson there was no charge. On Celebrity, not only is there no charge; but if you make even a minor pretense of gambling, the casino becomes, in effect, a source of cash that can be charged to your room. Assuming you get either miles or a rebate on your charge card, that means, in effect, that you get $100 at a cost of $98 or $99.

Answered on your other post, but in case you read here first: Yes you can buy chips on your room account, and they charge a 3% fee. This is charged to your room account the same as buying pictures or drinks, not a cash advance on your credit card.

Joanandjoe,

Dan answered the question more precisely than I did. As I recall there was a 3% charge to use the Sign and Sail card that is charged against the registered credit card. So in a sense there is a 3% commision to use the your card.

There is a warning regarding the 3% charge when when one inserts the card in the slots. Of course, I promptly took my card out and used my available cash which I hardly use while I'm on a cruise.
