sewut51
Whoo hoo! Two cruises in one year! Our TA emailed another great deal that we couldn't refuse. We are taking our grandson this time. He will turn 10 on the cruise. Any hints or tips on cruising with grandkids? Does he need a picture ID? Where do we get one? We are going on the Carnival's Ecstacy, 5 days out of Galveston to Cozumel and Progreso on Sept. 23. Sewut

Suzila
Congrats on booking the cruise. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun celebrating your grandson's birthday. I know you can get photo ID's at the Department of Motor Vehicles...just ID's without a license, so give them a call. But I really think you'll just need his birth certificate to travel with him. Have fun!
Mebert
sewut51, If you get a passport for him that would solve everything as far as identification. Make sure you have a notarized letter from at least one of the parents or guardians giving you permission to allow medical assistance if he should need it in case of an emergency. If you are the legal guardian, take documentation proving that fact.
GottaCruz
Great advice, Mebert, regarding the medical. We always just took birth certificates for id when our kids were that age. What a great grandma you are. Very lucky boy!!!!Remember to post your cruise date to our calendar if you haven't already done so.

schatje
Congrats!! Our 9 year old grandson keeps asking us when he will be old enough to go with us. It should be fun to see things through his eyes.
sewut51
The passport is not an option because of custody issues. I want to take him before he has to have a passport. I think this is a good age because he is old enough to take care of himself as far as bathing, dressing, etc., but not old enough to be a problem as far as the opposite sex if you know what I mean. He should have a blast at Camp Carnival and we want to introduce him to snorkeling. He learns pretty fast. He picked up snow skiing when he was 3 in just one day. He loves water and will spend the summer in my pool. We haven't told him yet, but I think he has an inkling. Sewut
