hazelson
When is the best time to actually see the whales on an Alaskan cruise? We want to do the round trip from Vancouver (it will be a treat not to fly for a change). For DH seeing the whales is really important - kind of like shopping is to me    And he would really like to see some right of the ship as we are cruising. Any info? sailingrose
We've been in June and July and have seen whales both times. May I suggest Orca Enterprises in Juneau. Capt. Larry always seems to know where the humpbacks are. It's been a few years but he was cheaper than the ship and he carries way less passengers. http://www.orcaenterprises.com/
JoeyandDavid
Hi Jenn I too did a quick google search and it looks like June thru the end of August is the best times for catching the Whales
hazelson
Thanks guys - we were thinking about early August (but not til next year). Dang gallbladder has gotten in the way of anything for this summer :o)
jbond
We were there the end of June and saw lots of spouts, but no humpbacks. Sailing in the Inside Passage we finally came across a pod of orcas. They came very close to the ship.
rogue
We sailed over July 4th, and saw tons of whales. We were told they would be around until about September.
KeithnRita
We saw many whales on our late July/early August inside passage cruise in 2001. At diner one evening a whale jumped almost out of the water similar to the one in the TV commercial. Rita was faster than me and witnessed the event. (NICE PHOTO HOWARD!) zebra
we've been in May and September and have seen plenty of whales on both cruises. On the September cruise we had a pod of Orcas (about 12 of them) swim alongside our ship for more than 30 minutes. The captain stopped and we were able to get fanastic video coverage and they played right next to the ship - totally awesome!
