I am thinking that we may do the evening of Santorini .. I am not hearing a lot of great reviews for the resturant....if you read the summit roll call (here) Cheryl really throws up some red flags....

Tonia- Ken and I are going to hike to Ia. There is a 6.2 mi. footpath. The views are supposed to be awesome over the caldera, esp. @ sunset. We will prob. take the bus back due to time constraints.That will be the last thing we do on the island. Santorini is going to be one busy,physical day. We are catching the bus to Akrotiri, then back to Fira for the museum to see the wall paintings that were removed from Akrotiri, then the bus to Kamali. We are planning to take the footpath from Kamali to ancient Thira (~40min.). That's the preliminary plan anyway.

Does anyone have any suggestions for improvement? cautions? ideas?

Shannon, is Akrotiri open again? Is has been closed for a few years for restoration - not sure when it was scheduled to open.

Tom and I are thinking of making reservations for the Olympic on Oct. 31 and Nov.6. Both days will be short tour hours and we will have time to relax before dinner. Seems we might be rushed the other nights. I have a feeling we may not make it to our table each night that we have long tours. We will just play it by ear and do whatever is necessary to have a nice dinner - even room service if need be.

Congrats to those who got a price reduction on the Sr. discounts. I have our TA checking on it for us.

Joey, Didn't I read that they have a great Greek Buffet on deck the night we are in Santorini? I am looking forward to that. I also like to be in the dining room on the formal nights. Tom will not be bringing his tux on this trip, just a dark suit. Trying to keep the luggage weight down.

Have any of you seen the ads for the new luggage with a built in scale? That would really help us.

good luck with the discount. I contacted our TA also. Hopeully, we will qualify.

I have not heard of luggage with built in scale. great idea though. i have found a scale that weighs only 6oz has a hook to hang the luggage on. It will weigh up to 50#. I believe it is for sale at the Magellan's travel site for about $8-9.

Mary Ann - yes we are looking forward to the Greek Buffet - that's one of the things we love about Greece!!!!!!

Tony has also chosen to take a dark suit for this cruise - trying to keep our packing to a minimum.

Forgot to mention....we have booked the Olympic (through our Travel Agent) for the 2nd Formal night - Nov 4th.

1st Formal is Captains Party and 3rd Formal night is my favorite - Lobster!!

what forms are you referring to? are you referring to online check in? we have never done that before. does it save a great deal of time when you embark?

Have not decided about the tux thing. i love the tux idea but we will see depending on space. Paul would be just as happy with his suit but there is just something about a tux...

Yes you did.... the 31st is David's birthday .. so we will be dining out hopefully.. I am working on reservations (St Paul de Vence ) but wont know if they will even be open on the 31st..

As far as the luggage with the scale.... I wonder how much the mechanism weighs?

The sixth maybe an option for us as well
