PaulaW
Wow-- that is unbelievable! I would love to do that , but I don't think I'd have a job when I got back. I will be gone about 3 weeks as it is, and to add another 11 days--well that might be pushing it! And I know Trish could not do it-- her boss is not happy with the amount of time she is using right now. I wish I could be retired like some of you are or will soon be! Thanks to everyone for the info on flights. Yes, I figured I'd clear customs once back in the US, but CDG was the uncertainty. I will check the "dark side" now to see what comes up over there. momwig
Just made the final payment -- feels good! Joey - my TA was reading the Cruise Crazies Board and noticed your dilemma about staying in Venice for an extra day and how exorbitant it would be to change flights -- she asked me to tell you this -- Wait until the fall when prices generally go down anyway and go to the Airport and speak with someone there. Maybe the high cost to change was because of when you were making the change and/or if your initial ticket cost was a special deal price. She thinks you should try again in the fall if you still want to stay that extra day - finding a room should be no problem once you know you are staying. As I told you before she is a really great woman and a good friend and even looks after my Crazies friends. Something to think about. JoeyandDavid
I think we have decided to basically treat Santorini as a day of leasure...even though the Santorini port is a day after an official sea day I/we felt that after the grueling four days we have planned fro Nice, Tuscany, Rome and Naples we may need the extra time to rest.... Plus we are in Santorini for 18 hours so.. it may be a good morning to sleep in.... plus the sunset is the big thing for us there...Most likely that will be our specialty dinning night also... zebra
Joey that's a very good idea. Seriously, nobody (other than those who have cruised the Med) realizes how ultra exhausting it is....especially if you're not 20 something  We are pretty active and found ourselves walking miles over uneven ground (cobblestones etc) and millions of steps. Santorini is one of those destinations that one can do some serious walking and climbing, another is Dubrovnik. This cruise is going to we way more layed back for us as well - just pace ourselves and get as much rest as we can. Even just the length of the excursions can be pretty exhausting, physically and mentally (taking in so much information) - most other cruises one does approx. 4 hour excusrions and then a little down time at the beach or casually shopping - NOT this cruise....it's go, go, go for about 8 hours a day. just to give you an idea - we only saw 2 shows at night on the entire cruise. We heard from others that the theater was about 30% full, except of course on sea days!! Don't push yourselves - just take it easy and enjoy.
