Love2Travel
For any of you that are staying on in Venice...has anyone made reservations for the Secret Iteneray tour of Doge Palace ? Does anyone know if the hotel would make the reservation for you for the tour or for a time to see St Marks? Was thinking that our first day in port, we would just wonder and then make plans for the day we disembark and are staying in Venice. Anyone staying on thinking of going to any of the islands, Burano, Murano etc?
zebra
Gail, we are thinking of going to Burano - heard it's a super island, less commercialized than Murano, we have enough Venetian glass anyhow. I think we will be Museumed out by the time we get to Venice.
s73645
yahoo!<] We finally have air transport!!! We will be arriving in Barcelona on the 26th. As for hotel, it is a toss up between Le Meridian, the Grand Marina, or the Holiday Inn Express. Joey- when we decide, I'll let you know so that you can fill in the blank on the list. PaulaW
I visited Burano last year when I was in Venice and it is so beautiful. It's quite a change of pace from Venice proper. Very quiet, laid-back and cute! There are no cars, just brightly painted homes and life seems not have changed in 200 years! They are well-known for their seafood and lace. Trish and I are considering going there on Friday after disembarkation and after check-in. I am assuming it is easy enough to get there via water bus. For anyone else this applies to: I found out that when connecting from one EU airport to another, you do not have to reclaim your luggage and go thru customs, provided you are staying on the same carrier and you have tickets all the way thru. You only have to go thru exit immigration when you are headed back to the US which I guess is not that big a deal.
zebra
Paula, I think we will possibly also do Burano after we've got ourselves situated at the hotel on disembarkation day. We'll probably take the water bus over - it's the cheapest isn't it?
zebra
For those of you who haven't done Barcelona before - you have to make sure that you have La Familia Segrada and Parc Guell on your itineraries. It's not necessary to buy tickets to go inside La Familia Segrada - they are still contracuting it and it's pretty cavernous, but the outside is architecture like you have NEVER seen before, it's unbelievable, take plenty of pictures each side of the cathedral is build in a different style. s73645
Zebra- What hotels have you tried in Barcelona? We are considering Eurostar Gaudi, Eurostar Gran Marina, and Le Meridian but are open to suggestions. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
