JoeyandDavid
FYI from Joey<] I received this information today in a newsletter I subscribe to: http://www.travelswithfriends.com Money in the Euro Zone<] Many people ask us what to bring – cash, cards or traveler's checks? Now that much of Europe is on the Euro, there is no need for frequent currency exchange. It is possible to leave home with all the spending money you will need for your entire trip. In addition, ATM's are everywhere in Europe – even in small villages, and they will work with cards from major systems worldwide. Just be safe and contact your bank in advance to put a note on the account. Remember you'll need a 4-digit PIN, so if yours is longer change it before you go. With the availability of ATM's, travelers checks are becoming less common and are not as convenient as cash. Credit cards are widely accepted, but small business, like family owned restaurants and B&Bs, still may require cash. . Whatever you bring, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Carry enough cash for the day and leave the rest in a hotel safe or keep it in a money belt. If you bring two credit cards (e.g. a Visa and a MasterCard) or ATM cards, separate them. Pickpockets are rare, but gawking or confused travelers can be easy to spot. Keep your purse secure and when in a crowd consider keeping your money and credit cards in your front pocket. In the unlikely event that the worst does happen, travel with a list of all international contact numbers (Major credit cards may have separate contact numbers for each European country) and credit card account numbers so that you can quickly cancel lost or stolen cards. If you bring travelers checks, keep a list of the serial numbers. Always keep this information separate from the actual cards or checks. Don’t bring cards that you don’t intend to use, such as your business credit cards, so you don’t find yourself making unnecessary cancellations. . Just observing the simple advice above will afford you additional peace of mind. Travel smart and feel confident. Also I received an email from a TA friend of mine: Celebrities new alcohol policy:<] Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Vacation Polices. Effective as of all sailings commencing on or after July 28, 2006, the minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on all Celebrity ships is 21. Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased in ports of call or from onboard shops will be stored by the ship and delivered to guest staterooms on the last day of the sailing. Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. It appears we will no longer be allowed to bring on board beverages for our personal consumption in our stateroom I am working on confirmation<]

Love2Travel
Hi Guys... Just saw this posted on the other site by someone regarding water taxis at the venice port. Take a look at the link for current information. There has been a change effective 7/2006 regarding availability or should say lack of availability of water taxis to service the port area. Good FYI for all who are staying in Venice post cruise. http://www.veniceguideandboat.it/transferport.htm

zebra
Joey do you still have that link to the water taxis in Venice (without me having to look through 600 posts!) If not, don't worry, when I have time I'll start looking for it. I'd like to see what they propose. Oh well that settles one thing for sure - only 2 cases on this trip for sure!!!!
