zebra
Thanks Diane and Joey for the taxi info. Everyone going to the Locanda - here's a suggestion. Let's meet at a designated area onboard at disembarkation time and we all leave together which should ensure that we'll all be on the same shuttle - and then share the water taxi rides to the Locanda. Any other suggestions?
chachabell
I was also thinking about something similar to this. But in addition, as part of the questionnaire we fill out mid-cruise, we should tell customer relations (via cabin number) that we are traveling as a group. That way we will be given the same color luggage tag and have the same disembarkation time. After tags are distributed we need to consult with each other to make sure we all have the same time, because sometimes they mess it up -- but not hard to straighten out. zebra
Diane I was thinking perhaps....that we (the Locanda group) should chill and get off the ship later, towards the end of disembarkation - if so, then it won't matter what color we have because you don't have to get off with your color, you can get off later, just not earlier. I'm sure check in time at the Locanda won't be 8 or 9 am - so does it really matter if we have a more leisurely disembarkation?????? Thoughts? chachabell
Jackie -- Check in time is 2 pm. I certainly think one of the later disembarkments would be fine. But Celebrity is going to want us off the ship by 9 or 9:30. They have to get ready for the next wave of passengers. Since they group our luggage in the terminal by color tag, I would like mine with late disembarkments. Not sitting by themselves and having crew wonder why we didn't pick it up. Also, disembarkment day is the only day some will have for touring, and I hope to make the most of that day as well, so don't want to cut ourselves too short. PaulaW
Diane-- Thanks for sharing your email from LO. I think your and Jackie's ideas for disembarking together are excellent! I, too, would prefer not to waste too much time disembarking as Trish and I have sightseeing planned for that day also. But I have a feeling that if on our questionnaires we respond that we are staying on in Venice, we will leave towards the end anyways. Either way, perhaps listing ourselves as a group is the way to go so that we can meet up more easily. One more thought: does Celebrity offer priority disembarkation for elite Captain's Club members? I know on Royal Caribbean, platinum and diamond members disembark first-- that has been a very nice benefit! If that is the case, perhaps because some of us fall into that category, they may already have a designated waiting area, and sometimes they will allow all members of a group to wait there as well. zebra
Last time we ended in Venice on Millennium as well. We weren't concerned about the colored tags as we had of course told them we are staying in Venice and were in one of the last groups anyhow. So we were able to at least not have to get up at 5:30 and rush to breakfast etc. We were off the ship at about 8:15 - so there will be plenty of time to have all day in Venice as this is pretty much the same time one would disembark for daily excursions at other ports. Disembarkation wasn't a zoo either because many, many people had left at 6:30 - 7:00 to get to the airport 2 hours before their International flights (plus 45 minutes at least travel to the airport). The ship is cleared by customs the day before, so people can leave whenever it suits them - at 4:00 am if they want to. So there isn't the same rush and crush as there is let's say on a Caribbean cruise. We could all meet at a quieter venue like Cova Cafe (or wherever would suit everyone) and then disembark together. Most hotels are 2 pm check in - but we always leave our bags at reception until later in the day.
chachabell
Sounds like we are on the same page. Disembarking around 8:15 or so is fine with us. They usually want us out of our rooms by 8 am or so. I definitely don't want to have to be up at the crack of dawn. We will have a long day ahead of us, and I'd love a leasurely breakfast. We will be Elite for the first time on this cruise, but doubt if that will make a difference. I think we can wait until we are on the ship to work out the logistics. chachabell
The documents come from Celebrity in Miami so I'll bet Jackie gets them first.
