terumim
i just saw this on the europe board about the millie as of may 14th cruise thought you all may want to read ............................................................,We just got off the May 14th sailing on the Millenium and it was a great experience. I have sailed on the Millie before and she does need some restoration but it is still a great ship. However they have a new policy in 4 ports to charge you for there shuttle service where it had been free in the past. We complained to the cruise director but they are interested in the bottom line. The ports are Civitavecchia, Livorno, Venice and you can now purchase tickets for the incline in Santorini on the ship. They have made it more difficult to get to the train station in Civitavecchia, if you are going to Rome. The 8 dollars shuttles do not begin until 8 am to late to catch the 8:08 train in Civitavecchia for Rome. So we walked. But they made us walk to the left instead of cutting directly to the port entrance which is to your right, this added over a mile to the walk. The Millie docks a good distance from the port entrance. We found NO taxis near the ship. We walked the 2 miles to the train station. On the way back we discovered that there is a free shuttle for everyother ship in the harbor. We caught it and it took us to the Millie. However I don't know how long you will be able to do this. We felt that Celebrity is too classy to start nickle/dimeing their customers. I hope this policy can be stopped. In Civitavecchia they were the only cruise line charging.
JoeyandDavid
Tonia.. I heard something about this also .. a cople of weeks ago I called Captains Club and they at that time said there was no information....( big Suprise).. If you will keep you eye out for other sailings reporting the same information , and I will take responsibility for trying to get it verified from Celebrity itself...
