zebra
That would be great Joey - but one little problem our hotel is beyond the top of Las Ramblas and I'm sure they will drop off near the Columbus statue at the bottom. Sounds like a great idea though.
zebra
OK - Tony & I have discussed this restaurant dilemma. We think someone else should take the booking over as we are one of the last to arrive in BCN - we both agree that La Villa on Las Ramblas sounds like an excellent option. The best scenario would be someone who gets in a day or so ahead of us, go the meet the owner of the La Villa a day or so earlier than the dinner and make a booking for 30 (??) at a given time that we all agree to beforehand. Who's a good schmoozer? Maybe we'll even be as spoiled as the otherCC group were
Lackey
Hello!! I posted this on x's board but it appears this board is a little more active. Lots of posts here...will probably take a lot of time to read them all. Thanks to Diane for alerting me of this board. Well here's my post... I've been reading the posts on this board (x) since March when I booked the cruise...lots of great posts and information. Because of work and scheduling issues I was not certain I would be able to make the cruise. However, it is now looking almost 100% so I feel comfortable joining the group. If I don't post too often or it takes a little time for me to respond please forgive me as the summer is my busy season. I sell air conditioning and live in the Washington DC area..very hot and humid. This will be our first European cruise and we (my wife and I) are really excited. I just can't believe how little we paid for such a great cruise on a great ship. It was such a good deal we convinced another couple to come along...so there will be four in our group. We are in cabin 6048 and our friends are in a CC cabin. We are trying to decide which ports we want to do with private tours and which we want to do on our own. We are thinking about private tours for Rome and one other (probably Naples). After reading the posts it looks like we can easily do most of the ports ourselves. I have already registered for the CC Party and it looks like it put us over the top. As an FYI...we are staying at the 1898 Hotel on Las Ramblas and are arriving around 5pm on Saturday. I look forward to reading more great posts and meeting everyone at the party. Andrew

zebra
Hi Andrew - so thrilled you have joined us on this roll call. Yes we understand HOT - it's pretty draining at the moment here in Tampa. Private tours are definately the way to go in Europe - hopefully you can still secure good tour guides. As you have probably seen on both boards we still have availability for 2 people to Tuscany (Livorno) should you be interested. Hopefully you'll have time in your busy schedule to be active on this rollcall. Did you and your friends sign up for the CC party?
JoeyandDavid
Foreign Languages<] I have a hard enough time expressing my self in American much less Italian French Greek or Spanish. For the benefits of us newbies to the Europe scene could some of the more experienced travelers care to give us 2 or 3 little phrases that will be helpful in the languages they feel comfortable with.. I am looking for things like Please, thank you , just browsing, everything is terrific.. help i need the police, joey
momwig
The "Dummies" series of books has Spanish Phrases for Dummies, French Phrases for Dummies and Italian Phrases for Dummies. They haven't published a similar book for Greek Phrases. They are about $10.00 each or about $15.00 with a CD. I saw them on the Amazon & BN sites.
