momwig
I will make a cruiserazies "phrasebook" for this cruise (a little Spanish- Italian - Greek and French and will some how make it available to everyone before we cruise -- perhaps Jason will allow me to post it on the Board. I will probably look at the Dummies Series for ideas - besides the yes no hello and good bye what else is everyone interested in knowing how to say? I will begin with the words suggested by Diane. momwig
If you spend enough in one place you can get the tax refunded ---usually this is done at the airport but you can do it in various ways. VAT's are sales taxes for citizens of the county in which they are collected. If you are spending minimal amounts of money it's no big deal but if you are buying something expensive it's worth the trouble to apply for the refund. JoeyandDavid
So I take it most of the more upscale businesses will provide the necessary paperwork?
momwig
Yes the upscale places will usually print out two receipts so that you can file for the refund and still have one to keep and they will advise you how to file for the refund.
