Cruisergal
 Joey, I was so looking forward to getting my pins today. But, alas, not to be. Bummer. I wanted to celebrate with the rest of you. Oh well, something to look for on Monday. The phrase booklet sounds like a great idea. That way, we do not have to carry a seperate book for each country. When we were returning from S. Africa, we had to get our receipts stamped at one location before checking luggage and they did want to see enough of the items to be satisfied. Then we had to take the stamped receipts to another window or bank to get our refunds. They do not seem to make it a simple procedure. Probably hoping many will not follow up on it and leave all the tax money in the country. Hope all of you are having a great weekend. chachabell
The TA (RGeagazio) that had such a good experience at La Villa has posted a full trip review. I have copied what he says about La Villa. "By total chance we found the La Villa Restaurant which is directly on Las Ramblas across from the Le Meridien hotel. We sat outside and had a few glasses of very nice red wine. I spoke with the Manager, Luis to see if it would be possible for my group to have dinner there that night which he graciously arranged. This man was the nicest guy! His english is not great but his warmth and willingness to please was without compare! He only charged us 8 Euro for 2 glasses of wine and 2 bottles of water. We returned later that night with the group of 14 and he gave us all complimentary Tapas before dinner, free sangria (several pitchers) and presented us with platter after platter of desserts, again all on the house! The food was very good and reasonable at approximately 14 Euro per person for an entree. They have a varied menu and all ordered was excellent. Most had the seafood paella, which was presented tableside and served. We wanted for nothing and were treated like family. After dinner the group returned to the hotel to get some sleep and myself and Kath decided to remain at the restaurant to finish our wine and buy Luis a drink in appreciation for all he had done. Instead, he wound up serving us different types of local liquors, again all on the house, and to put icing on the cake he sent us home with 2 bottles of the best wine they serve, with the promise we toast him from the balcony of our ship. This man could not have done enough for us and was tipped quite nicely for his kindness and friendship. I highly recommend you visit Luis at the La Villa Restaurant for excellent food and service. Please tell him Bob and Kath sent you! The restaurant is a bit difficult to find, but well worth the effort. They are located down a small alleyway off Las Ramblas. There is a large sign in front of the Hotel Citadines. Basically if you go to the Le Meridien Hotel and walk directly across the street to the Hotel Citadines and down the alley you’ll run right into it. The address is Pasaje de las Ramblas 122- Pza Vila de Madrid. The phone number is 011-34-934-12-55-41 and Luis’ cell phone number is 011-34-627-200-472." Cruisergal
Hi Gang, Do all of you know about the RCCL Shareholder Benefit program? If not, I will try to post a link for the information. Basically, if you own at least 100 shares of RCCL you can apply for a Shipboard Credit. The amount you receive depends on the length of the cruise. We have collected this SBC several times and it shows up on your account after you set sail - maybe by the 2nd day. It has paid for our tips plus our drink bill on some trips. CCL also has the same program. You have to ask for it and supply proof of ownership of the shares but that takes very little time. http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/...enefit_2005.pdf Hopefully, you will be able to click on the above if not just type it in. Some of you may know a more simple link. There is also a good program if you have a Platinum American Express card. Just wanted to share some money saving tips with you. Mary Ann
chachabell
I can vouch for this program, too. We found out about it in time to use it for our South America cruise this past January and have had the credit applied to the Med cruise and three others that are booked. Something else to keep in mind. If you book a cruise while on board you also get ship's credit again the amount depending on the length of the cruise. You can transfer the booking to your TA. If you're not sure what cruise you may want to take, book one or more anyhow. As long as you keep the same reservation number they can be transferred to other cruises up to two times.
