Activity is beginning to ramp up. I made our plane reservations! I guess now is the time to concentrate on the shore excursions, etc. Any new thoughts on the subject?

Hi Avie...

Did you guys get good flights/fares?....

as far as Xcursions I do know that for us Aruba and possibly Acapulco WILL be a beach day Ã¢â‚¬Â¦ Since we are traveling with another couple who had never cruised before we all agreed for a better experience we would get them evolved so after they get back from their current vacation we will be meeting to discuss what they found out about their assigned ports of call.. I will then be able to give you more of an idea form our perspective..

Avie I know you and Betty get to FLL early ....remind me as to what day... David and I and our friends get in the afternoon of the 18th and have reservations at the comfort suites at 1800 S. Federal Hwy

Good morning,

With the heat, lethargy has set in. I was able to snag a couple of first class FF seats, so we'll be flying Delta from IAD to FLL, and then LAX to IAD. Under the present schedule, we arrive FLL at 1:15 pm, and we'll be overnighting at the Marriott Courtyard - Airport. On the return, we intend to spend only 1 day in SOCAL. Right now, we intend to drive out to the Getty (Betty has never seen it), and probably have dinner with some friends in the LA area. Then back to reality (and more importantly, our wonderful Boston Terrier) on Sunday.

Hey Joey & all,

We are flying into FLL on Fri., 19th. I would have loved to come earlier, as I've never been to FL! Wanted to tour Miami & stuff, but don't want to take the xtra vacation days off work. We are staying at Embassy Suites near the cruise port. Expensive, but we often stay at Hilton properties for earning & redeeming points.

We usually fly First Class, as Ole is a biz traveler and we usually can do that. BUT, we are loyal united people and to get to FL, we have to fly Ted, which is like Southwest, no First Class to be had on these flights (via Denver). We might have some luck getting from SFO to Denver with upgrade coupons at the last minute, but not wasting miles on that leg.

After the cruise, we are zipping straight to LAX and home that afternoon, only an hour flight.

Did I mention that our friends decided to come with us afterall? We are excited about that. They were fun travel companions on our last cruise.

Meanwhile, we are trying to survive the brutal cooking of California. We had 110 degrees in our city for 3 days now, which normally for this time of year is 80/90. It's HOT HOT HOT in my upstairs where the computer is, so y'all should really appreciate me checking in. Even now at 9:0 p.m. it's in the 90's! Going back down to the cooler part of the house now.

Hi Cheryl, et al,

As I mentioned to Joey earlier, perhaps we can all get together sometime the day (night) before sailing for a pre-embarkation celebration. I don't know our schedule yet as we will be getting together during the day with one of Betty's friends who now lives in the Ft. Lauderdale area . But I'm sure we can work the timing-thing out. We recently learned that we will be joined on the cruise by Betty's former classmate, roomate, and friend, and her friend. And that's exciting!

I, too, used to be most loyal to UAL. However, when their service deteriorated, and they adopted the attitude that loyalty is a one-way street, I no longer give them any preference. Regretfully, Independence Air is no longer flying. But JetBlue is fast becoming the fav of many people I talk to.

I have ranted enough. Have to get ready to hop a plane to LaLa Land.
