Hi Avie & Joey (and anyone else who might be out there - but seems kinda lonely):

I'm glad your premium restaurant experience was a happy one for you. As I mentioned, I didn't hate it (except for the ghastly caesar salad). I just felt that it was overhyped. Sure, the $30 cover sounds cheap. But, when you double it for a couple and throw in a couple of bottles of good wine and champagne (afterall you have to keep busy doing something, such as drinking, during a 2.5 hour meal), then you have spent $150+ per couple.

Soooo, I'd rather eat the food on the ship that I've already paid for and save the 'upscale' dining for restaurants at home.

One thing I loved on Mille last year, which you may get a chance to experience Joey when you go this fall, is they had a Greek poolside buffet dinner while we were anchored at Santorini. The food was really quite yummy as was the greek red wine. They served Baklava for dessert, which I learned they would have AFTER I bought a TON of it on Santorini. So my baklava sat and got all sticky and messy in my stateroom! What a disaster. Anyway, I'm hoping they do something fun like that on this cruise. I'm all over the Latin or Mexican food thing!!

I know this is the PC board, but I'll just mention to Joey that you might want to visit Paradise or SuperParadise beach on Mykonos. Drink a Mythos beer. Take the bus, it was one Euro. We took a cab to Paradise Beach which was a hassle and could not get one back! We had to take the bus back which wasn't so bad. But you know how nervous you get when you are tethered to a ship and run into transportatio issues while roaming around on your own.

Meanwhile, did someone say cocktails??? I'm eclectic. Mostly a wine drinker, but like other things also. I do enjoy the tropical stuff while pool & beaching. I love sparkling/champagne!!! And good wine. I also like beer & martinis (straight up, tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire with olives). On the last cruise, we spent almost every evening before dinner in the martini bar! I seldom drink a mixed drink except for Bloody Mary's which I love if they are good. Or a margarita in the right place/time.

Ciao,

Good morning,

The heat and humidity are supposed to break today!!! Rah!!! (But if the short walk from the Metro to the office is any indication, I don't believe the predictions.

For perverse amusement (yes, I am perverse), I check out the ship reviews on CC, concentrating on Summit. The member reviews clearly demonstrate that there are a lot of travelers (at least some of the more vocal ones) who fail to check out a cruise line to determine if it does fit into his or her individual lifestyle. Apparently, there are many persons who fall into this category! You may enjoy (or at least find entertaining) some of the more "negative" ones.

Avie
