avie
hi, The cruise is getting closer -- we made the final payment today, have already booked excursions in Aruba and Costa Rica, and have finalized table arrangements. cherole
Hey Avie, We made our final payment also. Well, we gave them a Visa #. Is that the same thing? Hee heee. I have not booked my excursions yet, need to get on that. What type of dining arrangements did you make?
avie
Hi there, Friends will be joining us on the trip, so we will have another couple at our table. I've asked our TA to request a table for 8 or so. On past cruises, we have done a two top, and larger. The larger table hopefully will give us the opportunity not only to meet others, but a chance to share (and taste) a few more bottles of wine! We have second seating, as we believe that will provide an opportunity for hors d'oeuvres/drinky-poos/showers at a relaxing pace. Normally, I wait until the cruise to purchase the excursions. But I decided not to chance a sell-out of some of the ones which interested us. Although we have to pay for them at the time we make the reservation, they are fully refundable. cherole
Hi Avie, We have friends coming also and have booked a large table to meet folks. I like the idea of wine tasting with a group! On my last celebrity trip, our sommelier would save anything we didn't finish for the next night. Ordinarily, at home or restaurant, I don't usually have leftovers. But, with hitting the martini bar first and all, sometimes I like to pace myself. No sense having a hangover everyday! We booked an Aruba snorkel/sail trip. We are undecided about everything else. We are liking the looks of the trip to Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica. But, I'm not so sure about the 2.25 hour bus ride. It appears that you have to travel far from port to see anything decent. I guess what I really want to know is if there are bathrooms on the buses. No one has been able to answer that for me yet. cherole
Hey Joey! Welcome back. I can't wait to hear alllll about the Med! Maybe you could breifly mention some highlights or favorite moments for us, or let me know if you are posting a trip report somewhere. I'm a little stressed about Costa Rica, to answer your tour question. The reason is that everything seems to be a 2 hour bus ride from the port. I'm a little uneasy with that unless there is a bathroom on the bus. Not to get too graphic, but I tend to drink a lot of water and get dehydration headaches if I don't. Ergo, the need for convenient bathrooms. I haven't been able to learn *for certain* if any of the busses have bathrooms. So, to get to the point, if a group wanted to head out to Manuel Antonio Park, I think that would be a good place to go. With private vehicle, I'm assuming you can make stops if you need to. But, I worry about the private tours, I wouldn't want to stuck and not able to make it back to ship. Also, recalling that group from Mille in So. America who had the bus go over the hill from their own booking is kind of scary. A boon for the organized argument, I suppose. I worry about getting hooked up with someone unreliable and stuck. When we went to the Med last year, we struck out on our own nearly everywhere, as we're fairly comfortable in Europe. BUT, we had a helluva time getting cabs BACK to the ship in Mykonos & Capri. And I heard other people with similar stories from Athens. And I heard a guy telling a story in the gym about how they missed the boat in Naples when they went on their own to Positano and had to fly to the next stop which I think was Mykonos. I haven't had time to do research on finding reliable private transportation.

avie
Joey, The description of the truffle-infused olive oil has me salivating -- just the mental impressions are sufficient, though! I have heard about a private tour in Costa Rica. I don't know anything about it, but here it is -- okeydokeytours######. I have corresponded by e-mail with Charlie, and he will customize the tours to suit. Some of the people on the 11/25 Summit cruise are going to use him, and we might be able to learn more through the Dark Side when they return. In the interim, I have signed up with X to ensure that i can get one of theirs that seems intgeresting to me. As to Cheryl's most important loo question, perhaps the Celeibrity excursions desk can give a clue. I realize that getting info from them is questionable, but one can always hope!!!
