You may want to glance at the excursions for the Summit cruises through the PC on 11/25/2006, and on 01/06/2007. I found the "Panama Canal (cruising)"excursions there. In all probability, they are the same ones that we will have on our trip. At first blush they don't seem to be too fantastic, but that will require a little more scrutiny. I believe that the only way we can get off the ship in Gatlan Lake is to have a scheduled X excursion. (I may be wrong about this. However, the rate scale appears to indicate a captive market.) You may want to take a gander at them. The rail trip we hoped to take is not listed!!! This may be another Sea Day!!! Or perhaps an opportunity to join Cheryl on a tour of the various lounges/bars on board. LOL

Oh! Do I have a drinky-poo reputation already?

Normally, I'm a wine & martini person, with occasional other things now and again. I do recall on the Mille how horrible the tropical type drinks were. I'd go by the pool and order whatever the drink-of-the-day was (i.e. mai tai, margarita etc.), and they all seemed to be the same drink! I think they use one mix and switch out the liquor that goes into it.

See ya at the bars!!

Back to the excursions --

I saw one for the Panama Canal (Cruising) on the other ships that looks very interesting (if it is indeed in our "book") -- its called "The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute at Barro Island" -- Quite pricey, but what can you expect when the Smithsonian is involved!!! I did check out the Smithsonian website, and here's the address: www.stri.org/english/visit_us/barro_colorado/visit.php

Then go to the following link:

Good Morning Fellow cruisers of the Canal..

We had a meeting last night with our Friends to discuss excursions for the upcoming cruise..

We have decided to do the following:

Aruba on our own just take us where the winds blow...

As far as Panama itself we considered the canal transiting to be the excursion in itself.. and since we are there for only 5 hours or so.. it didn't make sense to try and squeeze a tour in.. so its just tender to to the dock buy a t shirt and tender back

Now as far as Costa Rica is concerned we all opted for the Ultimate Costa Rica Experience thats the 8 hour adventure I think they listed it as CR14 in the "generic" Excursion Book.

so we are half way done just Mexico to do and we are done!!!(with excursions.)

We also decided we will do specialty dining .. once we can determine how the formal and informal nights lay out ..we tend to like to do them on Formal Nghts... so if anyone hears which nights for our cruise are casual informal and formal we would be interested to find out..

60 Days left before we begin..

Have a great safe Thanksgiving week.. and if you have to be out on the roads .. watch out for the idiot driving inebriated or distracted ...Be safe...

Joey,

We happy to hear that you and David found the alternative dining room experience to be as enjoyable as we did on the Connie, and are now considering making a reservation for the PC cruise. (No, I don't get a commission! LOL)

We contacted the Captain's Club and requested La Normandie for the 29th at 7:30. We're now trying to decide if we want to request an additional dinner there. On the Connie we did both a formal and informal night (tux one night and a jacket and tie the other), and although the menu was virtually the same, both nights were most enjoyable.
