Cheryl, congrats on signing up for a January, 2008 cruise to the sun and surf. What ship did you choose? I'm sure that you and Ole had a fabulous weekend at Franciscan.

We're still debating our next cruise. There are just too many options -- river cruise in Europe? larger ship in Europe? Safari in Africa? And more!! The brochures continue to come in. Probably, we will be doing the same thing (trying to decide) when next year rolls around. (We accept advice and suggestions from all!)

We're still trying to get ready for the upcoming PC trip. Just got a new camera for the occasion; perhaps I will even be able to get used to it before we leave. This time I changed my criteria for a camera. No longer do I want to worry over choosing manual or automatic settings, depth of field, choice of lenses, etc. I'm now back to the Brownie syndrome, and I'm leaving the major decisions to the camera. No longer (hopefully) will I hear Betty's dulcit tones admonishing me to "stop fiddling with the camera and take the damned picture!" In short, I guess I have adopted the advice given by a leading photographer and instructor I had at a Smithsonian course on travel photography -- If you want pictures of structures, monuments, etc., buy the slides, photos, or postcards. They are done by professionals, the lighting is ideal, and are much better than most people can take! Take people and scenes with people as they are much more interesting! So, I will arm myself with a few large capacity digital memory cards, and off we will go!!!

We'll probably hold off on signing up for more excursions prior to embarkation (unless something interesting pops up in Panama). The submarine in Aruba and the aerial tram in Costa Rica will suffice for the time being.

Hi Joey - we booked a snorkel/sail for Aruba. Want to see reef & fisheys. Plus we love catamarans.

Avie - your old camera sounds like Ole and I sound like Betty! By the time he's ready to shoot the picture, I'm yelling and I come out with a horrible facial expression. I don't know how those models do it!

The trip in '08 was selected by a friend for her group birthday cruise. It's Carnival Victory - 1 week E. Carib - San Juan, St. Marteen, St. Thomas. This is the one we will take mom on, not PC.

We're also trying to figure out what else to do in '07. I really wanted to do Alaska cruise in June - but Ole doesn't seem ready. WHAT-ever!! We're bouncing around a land vac - maybe coast of Maine. I would also love to do a wine tour in France - stay in the castles, go to dinners & wineries with a group. And, there's always our old standby fave - Hawaii!!

Our Franciscan dinner was magnifique!! Multiple couses, reduction sauces, the whole 9 yards. We stayed at a B&B and hit a few wineries yesterday & today.

No, just napping is right. Guess I don't have anything super important to contribute!

Do you guys know if there are 3 formal nights on this cruise? I think I'll hit the after Christmas sales to see if there is anything new that I want. One of my formal dresses from last time made me feel like a 'wardrobe malfunction' waiting to happen, so may need to update the cruise wardrobe.

What's everyone got going on for Christmas & NY? Or whatever else you might celebrate. Ole and I are going to Toronto for Christmas. Brrrrrrr. His sister lives there. For new years, we have no plans. Our usual friends will be out of town! We're being abandoned.
