Joanandjoe
If you've read our review of our 5/13 Zenith cruise to Bermuda, you'll see that we loved almost everything about the ship, with one huge exception: we hated our concierge class cabin and our clueless cabin attendant. With a bunk bed overhead and a small table in addition to standard furniture, the room, which was the smallest we've ever had on a cruise, made us feel claustrophobic. It basically has caused us to cross Celebrity (X) off our list, and to cross off other lines whose standard rooms are less than about 200 square feet. That's probably half the cruise industry; but we spend more time in our room than most people, so room size is important to us. The standard rooms on the newer X ships, including the remodeled Century, are about the same size as our Zenith room: 172 square feet. Even the standard balcony rooms are about that size, plus the balcony. Our question, therefore, is the following: Are the rooms on the other X ships laid out better than on the Zenith, so that we might be comfortable despite the small size; or are we likely to be uncomfortable in the Millenium and Centrury class rooms if we were uncomfortable on the Zenith? (Our room on the Wind Surf, at 188 square feet, felt as if it were 50 square feet larger than the Zenith room.) We could, of course, book only suites; but the cost of doing that would probably cut our number of cruises in half.
JoeyandDavid
I personally think that if you would give the Century a try and book a concierge class or even sky suite now that verandas have been added you may be suprised... I am wondering if the clueless crew member might have disappointed you more than it appears...Verandas do make the difference Just my opinion though
Mebert
Joanandjoe, The cruise experience on Carnival may be very different but the staterooms are known for being a little larger. The fare is less expensive too.
popsec
We thought the layout of the oceanview room on the Constellation was wonderful and didn't seem cramped at all.....
Joanandjoe
What kind of room did you have on the Zenith and the Connie? Did you feel cramped in the Zenith room? Can you compare the two rooms? Thanks.
popsec
The 1st time we were on the Zenith we had a small porthole and it was our first cruise so everything was perfect, of course  The 2nd cruise was on the Connie and, with the large window and mirrors the length of the room, it seemed soooo much larger. There was a loveseat and desk with a small table between in front of the window. The setup worked really well for us. The last Zenith cruise the room setup was the same but it seemed cramped (maybe because of no natural light?). We'll be going on the legend in a few weeks ...185 sq ft room with balcony........hope I don't get spoiled forever on that! I've got a pic somewhere of the Connie room....
