In 1998 my youngest son and his friend graduated from high school. The year before we sent my oldest son and his friend on a Royal Caribbean Baja cruise as a graduation gift. We wanted to do the same for the youngest and his buddy. But the rules had changed.

We booked the cruise for the two kids and we had to go with them. We had to book it showing me in one room with one of the kids, and my hubby in the other room with the other boy.

In reality, hubby and I had one room, and the boys had the room next to us.

They do allow newlyweds to cruise, even if they are under 21, but they need to show proof they are married. This can be a problem if they get married on a Saturday and want to leave the following day, Sunday, because it takes legal paperwork weeks to go through (marriage license). You need to contact the cruise line in advance and find out what paperwork can be used to show you are legally married.
