Just back from 8 days on Carnival Legend

Welcome home, popsec. I enjoyed reading your review. I was glad to hear that you enjoyed Carnival, since we are fans and all 25 of our cruises have been on Carnival, though we are being adventurous and sailing RC next week. I do, though, agree with you about the service not being that great.

As far as the military discount, I think that military should just sail for free maybe once a year. That's the very least we can do for our brave men and women that risk their lives for this country. A free cruise for them- what's the big deal? After all, people win free cruises all the time.

:cool: Joey: I agree. Its worth a try. BTW I just recalled something cogent to this discussion. We cruised the Destiny in 2003. Durung one of the shows the headline performer, a member of the Platters, got into a regrettable reparte with some heckler in the audience. Some "off color" comments were made by the performer. I'll leave it at that. I emailed Carnival to bring this to their attention. Their response was to sincerely apologize and offered us a freee upgrade. I thought that was pretty good. Larry. :cool:

Glad you have joined the growing ranks of "Carnival" lovers. Can't be beat for all round value. And you can never say it's dull or stuffy lol. Otherwise we would never cruise lol.

I agree Jennifer...........Although we have only sailed Carnival we have never run into any problems......We had the best dining room staff. Our room steward was so friendly and efficent I swore there was a camera in our room and evertime we left he cleaned up.............I agree about the Lido deck sometimes the tables are not cleared right away but I think that is lack of staff . We are not drinkers so I didn't notice the bar waiters. Anyway some day we might sail another line and then I will get to compare.............................

Very nice review, popsec. We don't understand why Carnival gets a bad rap from some folks. We've had nothing but very good cruises on Carnival ships. Our first cruise was with Carnival and it turned us on to cruising. If we lived in Florida we would probably take a lot of Carnival 3-7 day cruises. They are bargains!

Message edited to add this: All cruise lines should offer substantial Military and Veterans discounts!

Welcome back popsec, good to see that you recieved the military discount!!! On our first cruise, our PVP made it a point of asking me if I was military(active, retired, NG, or Reserves) so that the discount was there for us. They also offer other discounts for Law enforcement, although I'm not sure if it is offered all the time. Too bad you can't combine, some old retired military cop could cruise for free(I tried it didn't work :cry: ).
