Jason
I just posted the review of our cruise this weekend aboard Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas. With this cruise being our first cruise aboard Royal Caribbean, it was very interesting to see how different Royal Caribbean and Carnival can be. The ship sailed to CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's private island, and Nassau, Bahamas. Below is is one of the funny stories from our review: Enjoy our review! Shari2
Cheryl and Jason... What a great review! It was so interesting to see all the differences that you found between the two ships. Sorry that it wasn't everything that you wanted, but I think you are right to still try some of the newer or different RC ships. Thanks for the review! schatje
Thanks for the review Cheryl. I agree with your conclusions. When I tried to find food because of rough seas on RC it was not to be found and there was a long wait for room service. I'm glad you and Wayne had a good time despite the differences. GottaCruz
Thanks, Shari, Joey and Mary. Of course, the best part was having all four of us together, at least for dinner, every night and getting to spend quality time with Jason. I hope I made it clear in my review that we are glad that we did this cruise, it was a new experience for us, a learning experience and there were enough positive things for us to want to cruise a different RC ship in the future. I hope noone was offended by any of my comments, after all, this review is just my opinion.
DaCruzNut
Thanks for the excellent review. I agree with most of your comments. I have been on RCCL three times and Carnival 12 or 13. Yes, the RCCL cabins are tiny! Even the 'better' cabins, with balconies, are much smaller than Carnival, or any other line I have travelled in 64 cruises! Likewise, I felt the entertainment on Carnival was far better. The food on Carnival has gotten better and is a little better than RCCL, but the service is not as good on Carnival. In fact, my last two RCCL cruises were among my least favorites. Funny, because my first RCCL cruise was among my favorites. But, times have changed... Carnival is still one of my favorites, with Celebrity and Princess tying for first place and Carnival a close second....
cruisetarp
I enjoyed your review Cheryl but am sorry your first RC experience was less than expected. I did appreciate you telling us the differences between the two lines and am glad that you did enjoy the cruise.
sailingrose
I'm an RCI fan and I totally agree with most of your comments. Of course that is only one ship. If you tried a Voyager class ship you'd probably feel very different. I love the small ships but they don't offer enough sometimes. I was interested in the differences for 2 reasons. It's been years since I've sailed Carnival and was curious as to your opinion and I've sailed on the Sovereign 9 or 10 times and wanted to see how the 2 sisters compared. You gave us a well rounded review. I sail RCI for the service and the crew, some of the best at sea in our opinion. We still like their service better then all the rest. I agree the food has really taken a dive in the last few years, the cabins are the smallest at sea for sure, but they have excellent kids programs. Sounds like Sovereign and Majesty are pretty similar in many ways so I haven't missed anything by not sailing that ship. It's amazing how things are different from one ship to another on the same line. We have found a way around the food issue, we stock up on cookies and other goodies in the afternoon for our evening snack. No room service necessary although I've called them at 2 am too! Thanks for the interesting perspective.
JoeyandDavid
That may be true.. not having sailed with rcl i dont this for a fact Jeff, however the service and the food aspects for us always out weigh the SIZE of the cabin... as long as we have a veranda ... were cool,,,, for us its all about the pamper.. the service... sailingrose
I agree Joey that's why we still sail RCI.
