JoeyandDavid
I guess we may have to try them, just on the strength of your word rose!
sailingrose
Oh I've hit a few crew members I'd like to forget........but for the mostpart they are all wonderful. Avoid RCI during schools breaks and stick to the newer ships.
gymbrat33
Thanks for the Excellent review! I think that I'll try the Voyager ships when I book RC for the right price. I imagined the cabins smaller than Carnival, but not as small as you mentioned on your review.
GottaCruz
I think that most cruisers would have a hard time going back to the older, smaller ships after cruising the Voyager class.Although I do know many people prefer the classic ships. We really miss the features of the Destiny class ships but the Fascination is fine for the weekend but when we book a 7 day , it would definitely be one of the newest and largest. We love the Fascination for the weekend and will continue to sail her whenever we get the chance .
Joanandjoe
Interesting review for us, even though we're unlikely to try either Carnival or Royal Carib. We were a bit surprised about your reaction to the Midnight Delights: most cruise lines have cut the midnight buffets down to their dessert extravaganza (chocolate and ice sculptures) and maybe one or two other buffets per cruise. On other nights, they pass around munchies. It's irrelevant to us: on our 60 plus nights at sea, we early birds have never been awake enough at midnight to want food, so we've never tried either the buffets or the munchies. (Plus, Joe is allergic to chocolate, so we'd need to avoid the dessert buffet even if we were hungry.) Usually we're asleep long before midnight. We had heard that RCI standard rooms, even on the newest ships, are tiny, and that Carnival has larger rooms. If there isn't much of a price jump, why not try a line such as Princess, Celebriity, or HAL?
GottaCruz
Carnival still has a midnight buffet every single night, although it used to be a more extravagant buffet than now. We are night owls, so after dancing and working up an appetite since we like to eat dinner early, we are ready for a snack. Whatever Carnival does offer, they also always have melons, pineapple and other fruit, along with desserts . Do Princess and Celebrity sail for 3 nights? I'll have to check into that. Right now, we are only doing 3-4 nighters but we do them frequently. The first few years of cruising , we only did the 7 nighters but now the 3-4 nighters are best for us. JoeyandDavid
If you are serious about Celebrity.. then check out the New Century that will be sailing out of MIA with 5 nighters
GottaCruz
Aren't the 5 nighters always Monday - Friday? Right now, Wayne won't take off from work during the week. That's why we do the weekends- he only misses work on Friday. Monday he's in his office by 9:00.
DaCruzNut
The Century will be doing a two-night on Jan. 4, 2006.... It's the same itinerary as the Regal Empress. I am seriously considering booking this, but have to tak two days off (Thursday & Friday) and was thinking I'd rather take a three-nite if I have to take the time off... We'll see as it gets closer. GottaCruz
Really, Jeff? That sounds interesting. Is that from Ft. Lauderdale or Miami? I think the kids are still on winter break at that time.
