Opinions please Captain's table issue

IMHO you did not miss much. We have done a number of Captain's Dinners and with just a couple of exceptions they were kind of "stuffy" affairs. Think you made the correct move. :wink:

:cool: BRAVO!! Great reply Rose. Ones children are never on the "B" list. :cool: I will say the timing of the return call has me curious about the circumstances. Its an odd coincidence that someone cancelled just then. However my response would have been the same. :cool:

I think you got a better deal if you got a tour of the bridge!!!! The Captain is more comfortable there, and he probably had a better time too!

Whoever did the invitations probably got a stern lecture, I'll bet.

Don't get me wrong, I would have gone if my DD was invited. I have always wanted to dine with the captain just once. I will say that Captain Nyseter was personable and truly a kind man when he allowed us to sail out with him and I would have enjoyed his company.

I think my cabin steward was shocked I turned it down.....he knew exactly what was in the envelope at our door. It is supposedly considered rude to turn down the captain but not inviting my DD was rude too so I guess they wipe each other out. LOL

I'm sure the opportunity will arise again someday and then I'll give it a shot just once.

Good for you for standing up to Principals..and I agree maybe next time they will be gracious enough to extend the correct invitation and you will be able to accept...

This is an interesting thread. On our last cruise on the Summit we were invited to dine at the captain's table. Our 15 year old daughter who was traveling with us was not invited. We didn't expect her to be invited, but we asked her if it was okay if we went to dine at the captain's table. She was all for it and was happy having pizza for dinner! :grin:
