Lisa63
I agree that I'd be miffed that all three weren't invited. But, if it were me, after getting over that initial thought, I'd ask my daughter for her opinion. It's possible that, at age 19, she might welcome time without the 'rents (no offense intended). Now, in my real life, my son is only 12, so I would decline.

DaCruzNut
I would have declined the invitation, with a note stating: "Dahlings- Thank you for the infvitation, but I never dine with the crew...."

sailingrose
OK Here's what I did.......I was pretty shocked at first having never been invited before. My DH picked up the invitation and frowned.....My DD looked at it and said"looks like your having dinner with the captain and I'm eating alone." When it sunk in I realized that she wasn't invited and was in more shock. We had a quick family meeting and decided that if she couldn't go none of us would. I went to Guest Relations, explained the situation and they called the Matr'e D to inquire about my daughter being invited. They called us in the cabin and informed us it was indeed only my DH and myself who were invited so I politely declined and my DD and I made plans for Aruba. Less then a minute later they called back and indeed they had room since someone cancelled. I politely declined again and said we had made other plans. I know some consider it rude to not go but our family decided it was rude to leave our daughter out and then to invite her as an afterthought. Guess the Captain wasn't too upset as he gave us a private tour of the bridge a few days later. Oh well, maybe next time.

hazelson
Good response Sailingrose - I wonder how often anyone says "no" to the royal summons? Probably set them back a bit lol.
