schatje
I your looking for a quiet out of the way place to hide we found that some ships have a small forward deck that is only accessible through a hallway door. Take a peek around the ship and see if there are any unusual doors forward, there might be a secret place to watch the sunrise or set. Andre' and I found them twice. One on the Celebrity Zenith and the second on the Sea Princess. No one else was there  happy hunting
Longboysfan
For first timers... Packing.... Looks at what you have - one outfit per day and one per night. Take 2 of the day outfits out. Make sure - if flying - to weigh your luggage at home. 50 lbs per bag domestic only. If your into hot tubs - pack a bathing suit in your carry on. On Celebrity - Get an aft cabin on a Millie ship. Great place for a get together on the larger balcony. Use the Sushi bar when you can. Great presentation - tasty eats before dinner. There is usually a singer on deck somewhere about 6 pm till 10 pm. Millie ships on the aft outside bar area. Try to fill out your paperwork on line and have your express boarding pass ready when you hit the pier. For multi timers on Celebrity. You can invite any officer level to dine with you. The Cruise staff, Captains Club Hostess, Future sales person are all considered officers. You just have to think about it early on as they have a set schedule as to where they may be some days.   Remember your on vacation together - but can have seperate ways of going about it. I'm out relatively early - 7:00am. Wife sleeps in till 9 or so. She thinks this is a place to relax. I do games, trivia and run about the ship. She finds a nice quiet place to loungs and may go to a craft activity. We do hook up at about 4:00pm for our running card game and or tiles. Then at 6 it's Sushi time. At about 7 or so she departs to have the room alone to get ready for dinner. I'm in about 8 and have everything ready to go and out for dinner together at 8:30. cruisetarp
I pack our carry-on bag with any valuables, our camera and our bathing suits and put the carry-on bag inside an empty small wheel- on suitcase. We don't have to lug the carry on, which can get heavy with 2 or 3 cameras, etc. and have an empty bag for the souveniers we pick up along the way. It also helps to have all the souveniers in one place when they grandkids are awaiting our arrival back home.

schatje
Strawberries are not plentiful in the Horizon cafe because they would be gone to quickly but you can order them through room service and keep them in the cabin refrigerator to snake on as we do. cruisingfun
Good Afternoon: This is both a tip and a warning for sailing on Grand Princess. We splurged one year and booked a Mini-suite guarantee. We ended up with a forward mini-suite. The suite was great and loved having a tub. Be aware, since this suite was under the flying bridge, whenever the deck hands washed the bridge area your balcony would get soaked. My husband found out the hard way one morning while drinking coffee out on the balcony. So if you would like a mini-suite book one mid-ship and don't take a guarantee. On Royal Caribbean's, Empress of the Seas don't waste your money booking the Junior Suites. These cabins are not much bigger than regular oceanview cabins. The junior suites are located on the deck below the pool deck, so there is a lot of noise especially when the staff is setting up for a pool party. Royal Caribbean should reclassify these cabins as a minimum oceanview with balcony and not as a junior suite. Terry

schatje
Aboard Princess last year I brought along some things that make Island Night more fun like glow in the dark earrings and necklace. This year I have added sandals that light up around the heel when you move. Yes call me a big kid  I saw many brightly colored shirts come out and floral skirts for the ladies, that could be used for swimsuit cover ups. We have an aft cabin so the party will be right outside our door.
