We always pack an alarm clock - not that we ever want to get up early and they do have wake-up calls, but we just like knowing what time it is. We also take along an extension cord as there are very few outlets in the cabins.

There is always milk and juice available at the buffet - not visible - but available. If you don't see what you want just ask - make it 2 - they are usually small.

All the wonderful people that make your cruise so special deserve your smiles, your thanks and monetary rewards. Cruising wouldn't be much fun without being waited on hand and foot.

Be sure to look the deck above and below you when decidng on your room - we were above the teen disco last cruise - and it was very noisy!!!!

Remember to pack your appetite and your sense of humor.

I'm getting there - Hey it only took 30 trips to get it down.

And I'm still refining it. As the line adjusts - I adjust.

Making friends with the right people on the boat to make the trip better.

Captains Club party - button hold the Hotel Manager. Tell him your having a great time and that _______ is providing great service to you.

Write him a note at the end thanking him again point out any special mentions. The ships officers seldom get personal thanks from passangers.

You make yourself stand out when you do this.

I think this comes as a practiced art as to who and when to do it.

Yes, a little bit of planning for special events can add to the fun by quite a lot. My all time favorite example of this was last September, in Prince Edward Island. Both of us are big fans of Lucy Maude Montgomery, and of her most famous character, Anne of Grren Gables. Anne is not normally a "guy thing", but as a redhead who excelled more in the classroom than on the ball field, and often wished he had "normal" hair, I empathized with Anne.

Joan packed two sets of Anne costumes, and two red wigs, so she'd have a choice. On the day of our excursion to Green Gables, she put on one of the wigs (and carried the other as a spare, which she gave to our tour guide), a calico dress, and period jewelry, and carried a basket full of goodies from the ship. She spent most of the day "in character", and was a hit everywhere she went, from the "Anne" and the fiddler on the pier to whom she gave granola bars and cake, to the people on the tour, to the Japanese female tourists at Green Gables house. The day was a blast, thanks largely to Joan's planning and costume.

Like Mary, Joan is a big kid at heart Joe
