laffnvegas
I posted this on the wrong forum  Thought some of you might be interest. The NEW Crown Princess had some steering problems shortly after she left Port Canaveral this afternoon causing it to list. My understanding from the other boards there is lots and lots of damage and many people injured. btate
I talked to a friend of mine about a month ago. He went on the Grand Princess last December out of Galveston. He says that ship had a similar problem only they were turning around to drop off a lady who had a heart attack. While turning around, the ship turned sideways and everyone went flying. . . Perhaps this is more common than we know? I do feel for those who are sailing. . . They will all have a story to tell! That part is for sure! rogue
When we heard about this, my wife and I were both quite shocked. We both feel that a little luck came our way. I feel very bad for the people on the cruise this week, and all of the crew that we got to know some on our cruise last week. Hopefully, the problem will be found and corrected as soon as possible.
GottaCruz
I just read that 2 of the passengers are in critical condition. Prayers for them and their families. I just read some of the passenger's accounts and it sounds terrifying. I'm so glad that Cindy and rogue were on this ship's previous cruise and not this one. KeithnRita
We have some folks on our upcoming cruise on the Caribbean Princess who may cancel because of this incident. They are afraid, since it is the same size ship, it could happen on the CP. With all the sailing's the Caribbean Princess has made without any such problems, we are not worried about it happening. You can never say never, but there is already enough in life to worry about, without adding more. The Crown is a brand new ship and it could very well have a design flaw. rogue
We had no problems that we were aware of with the steering on our cruise, but I'm sure that if there was any minor problems, we would never know. It is very difficult reading through reports on this incident on other boards, because there are quite a few that are either made up or just plain wrong. One report has the ship listing 180 degrees. That would put the keel facing the sky. The ship was reported to be on computer control when the accident occured, so maybe this was a software problem. Who knows at this point. A computer problem is probably better than a design problem. I hope all is well for those on board.
Longboysfan
I thought this happened to a Celebrity ship a few years back. Water out of the pool - broken things in the upstairs selling areas. Water in some rooms below the pool deck. Most likely it's in the Nav computer software when they made the turn.
